What?Oliver asks, but I’m already tuning him out so that I can finish destroying all of this shit.

When I find a set up still on the counter, my lips snarl as I figure out what she was making. The items that my researchers used to create the bond breaking medication are mishmashed together, but it appears that she had a lot of trial and error. Her notes are all over the place on a pad of paper, and I decide to take that with me.

Paula didn’t give her any information about this because she didn’t have access to it. The bitch pieced it together on her own.

Throwing on protective glasses, I begin cleaning and destroying her work. Once I’m sure everything that she was working on is destroyed, I begin to make a highly flammable gas as Alesso pokes his head in.

“Are you playing mad scientist?” he asks. “Should I be worried?”

“Considering that I want to blow this place off the map, yes,” I reply. “Can you make sure that the building is clear of our people? This is going to need a little more time.”

“Uhh, do you have time to get out?” Oli asks, also standing in the door now.

“Yes, I’m not a martyr,”I sigh. I have more than enough time to make the gas, leave a burner going, and get the fuck out of dodge. “Go, please!”

They take off and I toss away the protective glasses once I’m done. Grabbing the notebook that Ophelia was working in, I begin to stride out of the room. Scanning the area for people, I keep moving toward the exit.

“Ready?” Kane asks, jogging over to me.

“Everyone out?” I ask.

“Yes. Isolde is with Grant outside, wrapped in blankets. I didn’t know someone could wear so much blood,” he says, sounding impressed.

“Then lead the way to the exit. That open flame is going to hit the gas pretty soon,” I say.

Kane pushes me in the direction of the exit, and I find that it’s the only one not chained up.

“Better hoof it,” he says.

Running, we open the door together and book it across the parking lot. I can see Isolde and my pack surrounded by everyone who’s been helping us, as well as Ophelia completely hogtied on the ground.

Windows explode behind us as the gas ignites, and Kane grins beside me.

“This is always my favorite part,” he says. “We may even get some air on this.”

The crazy fucker is enjoying being this close to the danger behind us. I should have created a little less gas, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back inside to fix any mistakes.

We’re just clearing the property when my feet leave the ground as the rest of the building blows up behind us.

Gasping, I tuck my head down to protect it, only to slam into someone’s body. Looking up, I find that Grant is sprawled on the ground underneath me, and Kane is jogging forward as he lands on his feet.

Apparently he does this often enough to have some practice.

“Not exactly a soft landing,” I rasp, getting up and leaning down to take his hand.

“I don’t know what fucking got into me,” he groans, allowing me to help him up. “I’m demanding hazard pay, and maybe an unbrainwashing course.”

Shaking my head, I look him over to make sure he’s just grumpy, and not actually hurt. Isolde’s eyes are wide as she’s held in Alesso’s arms. I guess Grant tossed her at him when I came running out of the building like a bat out of hell.

“You’re fine,” I murmur, reassuring myself that we’re all okay.

Glancing over my shoulder, I watch as the fire rages behind us, and I decide we need to go.

“Someone should anonymously call the fire department before this gets too far out of control,” I say almost reverently, stepping forward to get the group to move with me.

Once a leader, always one, I suppose.

“I’ll call,” Duncan grunts next to us. “Let’s get the fuck out of here.”
