The memory of the woman on his lap flickers through my mind. It still angers me because, of course, Hayden fucks around. A handsome man like him has women throwing themselves at him.

I’ve heard enough. While Diego stands there struggling with his dilemma, I snatch the gun from his hand and march inside.

He’s hot on my heels.

“You left the yacht with María Fernanda.”

“Onhisorders.” He runs his fingers through his hair. “Pinchebastardo. Was getting you alone his intent?”

I sigh. “He helped me.”

“He’s taken an interest in you.”

“You’re mistaken.” I cringe at the wistful note in my tone. “We’ve barely spoken.”

“Keep it that way, okay? I told you, he’s dangerous. Especially to someone like you.”

My entire body stiffens. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Don’t change the subject. Just listen to me, for once.”

“Just like you listened to me?” I hiss. I pick up the hot iron and point the tip at him. “You got us into this.” Point. “You pledged loyalty to him.” Point. “Why shouldn’t I do the same?”

“What does that mean?”

“Don’t change the subject,” I mimic. “Listen to me, for once.”

For a heartbeat, I think Diego’s really going to lose it. But he surprises me. “Are you ever going to forgive me?”

He’s right. And the truth is, I’m being hypercritical now, given how I swore loyalty to the same man a day ago. Despite the warning bells going off inside my head, I can’t lie to my brother. He needs to know the truth.

“There’s something else you should know.”

“Jesus. I get the feeling I’m going to hate what you’re about to say.”

“I’m a Lobo now.”

“Sure, you are.” He shakes his head in that infuriating way of his.

“I’m a Lobo.”

“Not without swearing an oath of allegiance.”

“Which I’ve done.” I gasp as he thunders toward me and slams his fist onto the counter. “You said you’ve hardly spoken to him.”

“I haven’t.”

“Where?” he hisses. “His house?”

I frown. “What are you insinuating?”

“Answer the fucking question.”

That causes me to bristle. “He drove me home after what happened on the yacht—”

“A fact he neglected to include when he shared with me what happened. I was led to believe your skinny-assed dance partner took you home.”

“I pledge myself to him then.”
