I close my eyes and pray that my family realizes that I’m missing. There was an incident at school when he grabbed me. What if my guards were harmed in the process?

“Don’t go praying that someone is going to save you,” he sneers, grabbing my face roughly before shoving me down on the cold floor. I’m not sure where he’s taken me, but there’s not a lot of light or exits in the room. The walls are made of stone, and the floor is cold. My heart’s racing as I think about my trackers. My engagement ring is gone, and I know Miles had one in there for my safety and one for the ring in case it was lost. Still, my dad made sure I had several on me.

I’m in my clothes, but my shoes and bracelets are gone. The bastards are smarter than they look, but I have a chip in my thigh. All my father has to do is track it. Hopefully it still works and can track me.

“What does it matter if you’re going to kill me anyway?” I’m not sure why I’m goading a madman.

“It doesn’t, but I left a mess at the school. I’m not going to just make it easy for them to find you. Your dad, your mother, and your brothers will all pay for what they did to me. Just because you’re a little fucking prude. You weren’t that damn special. Just another dumb little spoiled princess and everyone thought you were protected by some rich thug. Ha.” He shakeshis head, smiling to himself like he has his own little private joke. “That’s funny. He couldn’t protect you from me because he’s too busy. You’re not that important to him, not even a bit. He’s probably chasing some whore at his hotel. By the time they realize you’re gone, they’re not going to know where to find you.”

“You’re the sick one—so damn twisted. I can’t believe you found me. I can’t believe you’re even here. I don’t know what happened. I’m sorry for whatever they did, but this has nothing to do with me.”

He tilts his head in a demented manner with his eyes turning cold and full of fury. “It has everything to do with you. This is all your fucking fault, you stupid bitch,” he screams so violently that spit shoots from his crooked jaw. I swipe it away from my face.

“You’re one of those guys who pretend to be one thing, but you’re really not. I made the mistake of even thinking that you were nice.”

“Wah, wah, wah, you are such a whiny little bitch. Especially since you gave your pussy up to a man who is far from nice.”

“I don’t care what you have to say about Miles because it’s a lie, and anything that you say or do from now on holds no weight with me. You’re holding me captive, and you physically abused me, therefore nothing that comes out of your mouth has any value. My daddy always told me that a man that hits a woman isn’t a man, so I don’t care what you have to say about my family or my fiancé. Do your best because I’ve seen you, and you are the worst.”

He grows angrier and then his fist comes down one more time. The room spins for a brief moment, and then I hear other voices. “Please be help,” I whisper.

“No one is coming to help you.” I recognize the voice from the hotel, but it isn’t someone that worked for my father or Miles. He’s one of the men who tried to buy my father out. He slams my head down and I pretend to black out, but I won’t forget his face and voice.

Chapter Eleven

Miles

An alert hits my phone before it rings. It is Kyros. “There was an explosion at the campus quad. It was a small bomb in the garbage can. Only two injuries and both are our guys, but Elsa’s missing.”

“Fuck, it was planned. Are you tracking her?”

“Yes, but the signal drops about ten miles from the location. Her ring was probably dumped on the highway out of town.” She has more trackers, but if they saw the ring, they probably pulled all her jewelry and her book bag. She has one in her tennis shoes, so if he’s wise, he took them off too. God, the thought of him taking her clothes off sends me into a fit, and I punch the wall, breaking a large glass cabinet.

“Oh my god, Boss, is everything okay?”

“Get Emiliano in here now,” I roar.

He rushes into the room, and I shout, “Someone’s kidnapped Elsa.”

The color fades from his face, and he barely makes it to my sofa. I’m afraid I nearly gave the man a heart attack. We call a medic and then get him care while I attempt to find out who took his precious daughter and the love of my life.

Fuck, I didn’t mean to send him to the hospital. Within ten minutes I’ve made all the calls, and my men are back from the campus with a special guest.

They’ve gathered in the interrogation area of the casino where we question thieves or card counters. As soon as I arrive, my fist makes contact with the bastard. I already hated the fucker, but he’s bumbling and not giving me the answers I need.

“Where is she?” I bark into the face of the stupid TA who has been fawning over my woman. I learn he has an eager interest in her beyond doing his job. I want to smash his head in, but I don’t have time to deal with him.

“I don’t know,” the punk squeals. He’s the man my security team mentioned was a little too friendly to her during class and often stopped her before she left for the day.

“You’re lying. You’ve been watching my fiancée, so you better speak up before I cut off your tongue.”

“I swear that I haven’t seen her since she left this morning, but she wasn’t alone.”

“Who was she with?” I demand, grabbing his collar and staring at this weakling in the face.

“First, it was the girl Angie that she meets up with, but then they parted ways and she went to her next class, but it looked like the doors were closed so she went off to the side. I didn’t see her go in because the explosion happened and I turned to see it. When I finally looked back, I thought she went to class just like they did.” He points to Elsa’s security who are bandaged. They were charred from the explosion yet are safe, whereas my woman is gone.

How the hell did she get taken? She’d been safe, protected, or so I thought. Johnny wasn’t anywhere near her, and neither were any of the other families. If it wasn’t those assholes, then who could have taken my future?
