She nodded and made another note. “Simon?”

Brielle spoke up. “Simon and I have traced the scents as far as we could off our territory without causing an alarm. We haven’t caught anyone, but all roads seem to lead south as he said.”

Simon ran a frustrated hand over his face. “That’s not to say a smaller prowl south of us is not making a play on a newly transitioned prowl.”

Brianne scoffed and Brielle chuckled. “Trust me when I say, my cousins and I have a reputation, smaller prowls know good and well not to mess with us.”

Brianne nodded. “So since we don’t know for certain, we treat Yasim’s rep like any other. We present a strong prowl, one still as close knit and even more deadly than before.”

Carlos nodded. “I like it. We’ve doubled our enforcers by blending the prowls, but, there is a lot of territory to cover here, I don’t want to stir unnecessary trouble.”

“The meetings in general are to solve territory disputes and mediating scuffles between prowls, I want no hint from us that we have either.” Brianne said sternly.

“This will make whoever attacking our women antsy.” Simon commented.

“Bingo.” Brianne touched her nose.

“How can we get your position more respect?” Derrick asked. He liked the way Brianne worked and he couldn’t imagine her having to fight every meeting to be heard.

She looked up surprised. “I…”

Theo nodded “That’s a good point.”

Derrick shrugged at her shock. “Even allowing them to undermine you in meetings is in a way undermining our alpha. I want to start as we mean to go on.”

She recovered quickly. “Well, grandfather was of the mind that if we let them underestimate us, it hurt more when we slapped them down.”

Derrick scoffed. “No disrespect to your grandfather, but I think the best way to show how different Carlos is, will be to show that we won’t have our council rep disrespected.”

She pursed her lips and pushed her hair behind her ear. “Well, I think it will have to come from you directly, Felix.”

Theo agreed. “If you talk as though she is the authority on you and our prowl, they’ll have no choice but to treat her that way.”

Brianne snorted. “Trust me, they’ll have a choice, but it will go a long way.”

That settled, they continued to plan out the rest of the council meeting, hammering out details.
