Today?
Briggs
You wouldn’t be the first Chase to hit it and quit it today either, if you want to get technical.
Luke
Dude. No. Don’t tell them that. Don’t egg them on.
Briggs
Love you guys. See you next weekend.
Holly
I’ve got to go too. Sophie’s crying.
Rainey
Wait. Dad wants to know if you’ll be home for Christmas Eve?
Luke
We have a game on Christmas day.
Hadley
That’s not until four though.
Holly
Let me talk to Camden and figure out the holiday plans.
Hadley
Ohh. . . it’s like that already?
Holly
Goodbye, Hades.
Hadley
Love ya, Holls.
My heart skips a beat when I walk into Sophie’s room, and other parts of my anatomy perk up in ways they reallyshouldn’t... But come on.Seriously. Camden is sitting in the glider rocker, bare-chested with Sophie lying against him. Her cheek planted against his skin as she babbles to her daddy, who’s rubbing her back in soothing circles.
Why is that so hot?
Oh my garland. Who am I even kidding? It’s hot because it’s him.
My giant, grinchy gladiator, hot daddy from the pharmacy, and he’s still all those things. But now... now there’s an emphasis on mine. At least I think there is. We haven’t exactly rushed to talk things through this morning.
“Morning, vixen,” he murmurs as his eyes warm, and my insides do the same.
I lean against the door, smiling at the sight. “Morning.”
“Do you have any plans for today?” he asks as Madden gets up and circles me until I give him some love.
