I slumped with relief. “Thank God.”

Wyatt cleared his throat. “Since we’re talking details… how exactly does a male omega give birth?”

His mom grimaced. “Inside the solar eclipse omega there is a small pouch, similar to a womb.” She gave a little laugh when I winced. “The baby will grow and be nourished by your body for three months and then be delivered by C-section.”

I let out a long breath. “That’s a relief. I was afraid you were going to tell me I was going to form some type of man-vagina or something.”

Wyatt snorted. “This is just too weird.”

“Tell me about it.” I stared down at my flat stomach. I was calmer now, but realistically, I was also still in full-on denial.

His mom leaned toward me, her expression wary. “So now that you know more about the process, will you rethink the concept of abortion?”

I stiffened, not wanting to be pushed into making any concrete decisions yet. “I don’t know. This is a lot to take in, and I’m still halfway thinking I’m hallucinating this whole thing.”

“You’re not. This is real. A life is growing inside you as we speak.” Her voice was firm and her eyes dark with emotion.

The idea of that was still startling. How could I be carrying an innocent life? Me? It made me nervous to think everything I ate or drank could affect this thing inside of me. If I was hit by a car or shot, the baby would probably die too. That was an unsettling idea, especially considering my line of work.

Wyatt spoke up. “He doesn’t have to make any final decisions yet. I mean, we literally just had confirmation he was pregnant a few hours ago.”

“Yeah,” I said softly, giving him a grateful look. He really did seem as if he was trying to understand my side of things too. It was surprising coming from him. Especially considering he was kind of in the middle between me and his own mother.

She looked as if she understood she needed to not push me. She gave a little shrug, and she rose. “Very well. At least you now know your options. If you carry the child to term but decide you want nothing to do with it, you can rest assured he or she will be taken care of and raised with love.”

 Something I’d never even had.

“I’m just not sure I want to put my life on hold like that.” I didn’t want to meet her eyes because I knew I sounded selfish.

“It is a lot to ask.” Wyatt nodded. “I don’t even know if I could do it.”

“I thought you would keep the baby?” I frowned.

“Well, that’s easy for me to say when you’re the one who’s pregnant, right?” He laughed.

 “True.”

He mom’s eyes sparked with frustration. “Why did you become a bodyguard, Blade?”

I was taken aback by her sharp tone. “I’m good at it.”

“That’s not what I asked you though.” She moved a step closer. “I assume you have some sort of sense of duty. Or that you like to protect people who can’t always protect themselves.”

I shrugged. “Perhaps there’s something to that.”

“It seems odd that a man who would extend that protection to strangers wouldn’t find it in his heart to do that same thing for his own unborn child.”

“I get paid to protect people.” My voice was hard.

“Ya know, Mom, for someone who has always said a woman’s body is her own, you’re kind of pushy right now.”

She shot him an irritable glance. “This isn’t a political statement. He’s carrying my grandchild, a rare offspring born of a solar eclipse omega. That’s something worth cherishing, in my opinion. I’m not arguing for anything other than the life of my very own grandchild.”

“Fair enough,” I said quietly. “But I’m a man who just found out he’s pregnant, and that’s about all I can handle at the moment.” A wave of nausea rippled through me, and I shifted uneasily. “I’m exhausted. We need to go home.” All I wanted to do was take a nap and pretend this wasn’t happening.

“Of course.” Wyatt kissed his mom good-bye and we all three headed toward the foyer.

She grabbed my arm near the door. “Just promise me you won’t do anything rash until you’ve had a chance to really think about things.”
