I nodded, a lump forming in my throat. “You’re my omega. Hopefully we’ll have babies together too. But that will never mean this little kid isn’t worthy of my unconditional love.”

He lifted his tear stained face to me, disbelief obvious in his gaze. “You’re like a saint, Graham.” He sniffed. “I thought you might throw me out. I thought you’d be so furious that you’d reject me.”

I swallowed. “No. And I’m not a saint. Not by a long shot. I’m jealous and I feel intimidated that this baby isn’t mine. But there’s more to being a dad than just sperm, right? We’ll raise this child together, and he’ll be ours.”

He nodded, burying his face against me again. “You’ll be the best father.”

“I hope so.”

“I know so.”

Chapter Eleven

Sam

“You’re definitely underweight.” Doctor Agatha frowned at her clipboard.

I winced. “I know. I wasn’t really in a good situation at first. I’ve actually put on a few pounds the last few weeks.”

“I’ve tried my best to fatten him up.” Graham held my gaze. “But I didn’t know until a few days ago he was pregnant, or I’d have been hounding him to eat way more.”

“I’m taking prenatal vitamins now. Does that get me any points?” I grimaced at the doctor.

“Thank heavens for that.” She peered at me, pressing her stethoscope to my bare chest. “How’s the morning sickness?”

I glanced at Graham. “Hard to hide.”

Graham chuffed. “He tried though. I think my water bill will be doubled because he always ran the water trying to hide it. I thought he was just sickly.”

My face warmed. “I was in an awkward situation.”

“Yeah.” He nodded.

Doctor Agatha straightened. “Well, other than you being too thin, everything looks pretty good. We will have the results of your blood work back next week, and we have you scheduled for a sonogram in a few months.” She smiled. “I guess that’s about it for today.”

“Okay.” I pulled on my shirt.

“The morning sickness should fade in a week or so. If it doesn’t, let me know.” She moved to the door. “Congratulations you two. Having a baby is a wonderful thing.”

I smiled politely, feeling a little uncomfortable in case Graham felt uncomfortable. I still worried that he might not follow through because the baby wasn’t his. By being with me and this baby, he was going against every natural alpha instinct he had.

After she left, he moved over to me. “You don’t need to look so uptight every time anyone mentions the baby.” He frowned.

“I just don’t want you to feel weird.”

He laughed. “Sam, I don’t feel weird unless you act strange. We’re in this together. I feel invested in this little baby now. I thought I made that clear.”

“Yes. But you might just be being polite.”

“No.” He pulled his brows tight and grabbed my hands. “I’m excited.”

“Okay. I’ll try to calm the hell down.”

“Please do.”

I jumped off the examination table with a grunt. “I have to work tonight,” I grumbled.

“I thought you usually had Thursday nights off?”
