“Yeah.” I frowned. “I did do that, didn’t I?”
“You and Lex seem to be getting along well.”
I felt myself blushing. “Yeah, we’re a good fit. Regardless of what Charles thinks, Lex is good for me.”
“Charles has his mind made up.”
I met his gaze. “Lex is so good to me. Yes, he screwed up in the beginning, but he treats me like gold.”
His smile was kind. “I don’t really know Lex, but I can see a difference in you.”
“Can you?”
“Yeah. Charles will come around when he sees that Lex is a changed man.”
“I hope so. I live in fear Lex will want to leave because Charles is such an asshole to him.”
Chuckling, Dr. Peters said, “Lex doesn’t strike me as an alpha who runs easily.”
“I hope not.” I grimaced. “I’ll be back after lunch.”
“I’ll see you then.” He waved and headed to the cafeteria.
I made my way out of the building, inhaling the crisp air. I felt better now that I was out in the sunshine. The breeze hissed through the pines, and I sighed, feeling content. When I reached the cabin, Lex was in the kitchen. It smelled delicious in the house. “I only have a half hour,” I called out. “I don’t have time to eat and do… other things.”
He came toward me, and the minute he saw me, he frowned. “Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah.” I hesitated. “Why?”
“You look pale.” He led me over to the couch. “Sit.”
I obeyed, and he sat beside me.
“I was light-headed earlier at work. Dr. Peters is doing some tests on me.” I laughed. “He thinks I might be anemic.”
“Really?” He looked worried.
I smiled. “It’s okay. I’ll just take some iron and I’ll be fine.”
“I don’t like it when you’re sick.” He sounded so put out, I had to laugh.
“Well, I don’t like it either.” I touched his face. “I don’t want to just talk about me.”
“Yeah?” He licked his lips. “What do you want to do instead?”
I smirked. “I’m not sure. Do you have any ideas?”
“Yeah. I have a few.” He pushed me gently down on the couch. “Since you’re so weak, I’m going to take care of you.”
My heart pounded. “Take care of me how?”
He slowly unzipped my jeans and tugged them down roughly to my knees. “I’m going to suck you.”
“Really?” He’d never done that to me before, and since I was the only guy he’d been with, that meant he’d never given head. “You sure you want to do that?”
His eyes gleamed salaciously. “Oh, yeah. I want to taste you. I’ve been thinking about it for days.”
Excitement zipped through me. “I had no idea.”
