“You’re pregnant. That’s why you’re having morning sickness.”

Shock rolled through me, and I searched his face for signs he was kidding. It wasn’t a very funny joke if he was kidding. “You can’t be serious.”

“As an aside, you arealsolow on iron.”

I touched my stomach, disbelief settling on me. “But… I don’t understand.”

He shook his head. “As insane as it sounds… Lex must be your fated mate.”

My mouth moved, but no sound came.

“Of course, he’s going to be extremely surprised.” He winced. “Maybe even freaked-out.”

“My God.” I blinked at him.

“The odds of you meeting your mate the way you did.” He looked like he had no idea what else to say.

I stood, feeling light-headed. “I’m afraid if I tell him the truth, he’ll reject me.”

“Well, there’s no question he will be blindsided.”

“I would have told him about myself already.” I scowled. “But Charles didn’t want me to. He didn’t think he had the right to know.”

“He certainly does now.”

“Things are so good right now.” I met his gaze. “I’m scared this will ruin everything.”

“But you’re having a baby. That’s a great thing.” He sounded chipper, but I could see he wasn’t sure how Lex would take the news either. “Do you love each other?”

“Yes.” I winced. “But I’ve been lying to him about myself. I was mad at him for doing that, and now I’m the liar.”

“What’s done is done. He has to know the truth now.”

“I know… I just don’t know the best way to tell him.”

Dr. Peter’s gaze softened. “He came here the first time seeking answers. Charles wouldn’t tell him certain things because doing so would tell him about the solar eclipse omegas.” He laughed. “There is now no reason for Charles to not tell him the truth about what happened to his father. This could end up being a good thing for Lex. He’ll have his closure.”

I swallowed hard. “Yes. But it could very well be the end of our relationship too.”

“But if you love each other, what could be better than also having a child?”

“He won’t understand any of this. He doesn’t even believe in the Ancients.”

“Ahhh. A skeptic.”

“Yes. He thinks I’m gullible.”

He shrugged. “That, my boy, is because he didn’t know any of the truths. He’s about to get a very large dose of it from you. Go home. Talk to Lex.”

I met his gaze, anxiety eating at me. “We just reconnected. We’re in such a good place. This could destroy that.”

“What is the alternative?”

I lowered my head. “There isn’t one.”

“Now there will be no more secrets between you. That’s a good thing.”

“Yes. I only hope our fragile relationship can handle this much honesty.” I moved to the door.
