“What do you mean?” Zaire’s brows snapped together.
“I can guarantee as soon as you sit down and I leave your side, you will have several Daddies come and speak to you and your friend and give you their spiel about what they can offer you. I thought you might like a drink before it happens. I don’t want you to feel inundated.”
Zaire glanced around and nodded. Although Zaire had appeared to be confident the previous times Aaron had seen him, he appeared nervous enough that Aaron’s Daddy instincts were kicking in, and he wanted to care for his boy—a boy. Aaron cupped Zaire’s elbow and guided him and his friend to the bar, allowing them both to sit while he stood in the middle of them.
“This is Colin.” Zaire introduced his friend. “Colin, this is Aaron.”
Colin’s eyes widened as they flicked back and forth between Aaron and Zaire. It seemed Zaire had been talking about him, but what had he said?
“Nice to meet you, sir.”
“You, too, Colin. Now, what would you both like to drink?”
Three beers were ordered, and once they’d arrived, Aaron said, “I mustn’t keep you from finding what you came here to find. I’m over at that table,” he indicated where Cord was sat, “if you need anything. Please don’t think you have no one to help you should you need it. It goes for both of you. Okay?”
Both boys nodded and verbalised their understanding when Aaron indicated he wanted an answer.
He turned to leave when Zaire’s voice called him back.
“Could you…” Zaire swallowed and ducked his head. “Never mind.”
Aaron returned to him, lifting his chin with his forefinger. “Finish your question, please.”
Zaire’s gaze locked with his again, and something charged between them. Aaron wanted to kiss him but refused to do so without giving Zaire the choice of Daddies, as much as it killed him to do so. He would’ve loved to offer to be Zaire’s Daddy, but he was obviously a glutton for punishment because he wanted Zaire tochoosehim.
“Could you stay until we leave?” he whispered.
“I can and will.”
Dropping his fingers from Zaire’s skin, he nodded at Colin and returned to Cord.
“I see you know one of them. Why not claim him?” Cord leaned his elbows on the table, coming closer.
“It’s a little complicated how I know him. As for claiming him, you should know better. They claim us, not the other way around.”
Cord laughed and nodded. “They do.”
“I will hang around until they leave. A friendly face and all.”
“Yeah.” Cord smirked. “A friendly face, okay.” Disbelief rang true through his words, but Aaron ignored the implied meaning.
His gaze was on Zaire and the three men surrounding the two boys. Luckily for the men, they kept a respectful distance, and Aaron was not concerned about them pushing too hard. He’d keep an eye on them, even if it killed him.
As much as what he’d said to Cord was true, he also hated the idea Zaire might choose someone else.Hewanted Zaire, and he wanted Zaire to wanthimback.

Chapter 5
Zaire
Zaire lost track of how many Daddies had come up to speak to them, but none had given him butterflies in his stomach as Aaron did. He’d been polite, yet honest with each and every one of them. In between visits, he and Colin had spoken about who they liked and who didn’t match up with them. Colin had already decided who he wanted, but he refused to leave Zaire until Zaire had made his decision.
He had to get the courage up to ask the one person he wanted. His gaze flicked in Aaron’s direction as it had done many times throughout the evening. Once again, he found Aaron’s gaze on him, which should be unsettling, but Zaire found it reassuring.
“Why don’t you go and speak to him again,” Colin murmured, leaning in. “You mentioned him loads before we even arrived here, and that was when you didn’t know he was a Daddy.”
Knowing Colin was right, Zaire gathered his confidence, which he usually had in spades, and straightened his spine. “Okay. This is fucking scary. I thought I had enough confidence to do this with my eyes closed but the minute it became possible, I’m like a mouse.”
