“You’re welcome. I’ll do anything to make you feel comfortable.” They stopped. “This is me.”

Aaron opened the car door, indicating for Zaire to get in, which he did. Aaron closed the door and jogged around the front of the car to the driver’s side.

After he had given Aaron his home address and the car had pulled out into the night, Zaire watched the scenery in silence. He didn’t know what to say. They probably had a huge amount to discuss, but he didn’t want to. Zaire wanted their relationship—if they were to have one—to progress as a normal one would. It was difficult for it to happen because there were so many boundaries usually involved in a Daddy and boy relationship.

What Zaire wanted was for his Daddy to take control and stop him from having to think about everything. He wanted to stop second-guessing his choice of outfit. He wanted to stop holding himself inside while he worked. However, as much as Aaron thought he could help Zaire to merge his two sides, Zaire had been doing it so long, he didn’t think it could work. He agreed to try and try he would.

“You’re thoughtful over there.”

Zaire stared across at Aaron. “I’m letting it sink in you’re a Daddy, although why I didn’t figure it out before, I don’t know.”

Aaron snorted. “I’m not wearing a sign.”

“I know, but most Daddies can’t help their protective and caring side from showing in their daily lives. When I think back on the times I’ve seen you, it all seems glaringly obvious, but at the time…” Zaire shrugged, turning his gaze to the view once more.

“It’s often difficult to separate the two, which I believe is why you struggle so much.” Zaire gawked at him as he continued, “I don’t separate myself. I am who I am. I’m a Daddy in nature, but I don’t hide it away when I’m at work. Naturally, I’m not called Daddy, but a lot of the things involved in my job are helped by my personality.” He paused and glanced over at Zaire, who was staring at him. “For you, it’s a similar notion. Your caring side allows you to do the job you do, but you quietly suffer by hiding away who you are.”

“And who am I?” Zaire whispered.

“A boy who has the chance to be a boy with the students he looks after. You get to play with them, help them, support them, just as you would if they were your best friends. If you allowed yourself, you could be a boy ninety per cent of the time.”

Zaire snorted. “That won’t happen. It’s impossible.”

“Nothing is impossible if you want it enough and have support,” Aaron argued.

Thinking about Aaron’s words kept him busy for the remainder of the journey. When he pulled up outside Zaire’s house, Aaron stopped the engine and got out, walking around to Zaire’s side and opening his door.

“Home sweet home.” Aaron smiled, grabbing Zaire’s hand and linking it through his arm.

Staring at the ground, Zaire withheld a smile. When they stood outside his door, the security light shining bright, Zaire inhaled. “Thank you for tonight.”

“You’re welcome. I hope, after you’ve thought some more, we can do it again and maybe have dinner?” Aaron rested his hands on Zaire’s waist.

“I’d like that.”

Chapter 6

Aaron

Aaron could feel Zaire’s body trembling beneath his hands, whether from the cool wind or nerves, he wasn’t sure. “I’ll ring you tomorrow to see how you are.” Regardless of their relationship’s status, Aaron would need to make sure Zaire was alright with everything that had happened tonight, even if Zaire declined to go further.

“Okay. Thank you.” Zaire’s gaze flicked over his face.

Aaron pinched Zaire’s chin between his finger and thumb and pressed a chaste kiss to Zaire’s lips before pulling back. “Good night, Zaire.”

Zaire didn’t say anything, just stared, then leaned forward and fused their lips, wrapping his arms around Aaron’s head and holding him tight.

Unprepared for the attack, Aaron fell back several steps until he regained his balance. He allowed the forcefulness of Zaire’s kiss but slowly gentled it, cupping Zaire’s jaw as Aaron held him close with the other hand. Lifting his head, he held firm when Zaire attempted to kiss him again. They both breathed heavily as they locked gazes.

“I can see I’m going to have my hands full with you,” Aaron said with a smile, loving the idea.

Unfortunately, it appeared to be the wrong thing to say because Zaire immediately tensed up. His jaw firmed, and he pulled away.

Aaron frowned, thinking over what he said and seeing nothing wrong with his words. “Zaire?”

“I’m tired. Thank you for bringing me home.” His voice was clipped, devoid of all warmth as he unlocked and opened his door.
