Mav swallowed a few times before he spoke, “King Andrew has taken me on as a freelance social media manager for Douglas as we work well together.” Mav smiled at him.

Ronald raised his eyebrows. “Does he know about…” He flicked his hands between the two of them.

“Yes, my parents know about us. Father opposed, to begin with, but he’s come around and has given us his blessing.”

“You’ll be a lot busier than before.” Ronald’s brow lowered and puckered.

Mav reached for his father’s hand, covering it. “I’ll be here as much if not more than before.” Mav frowned and glanced at Douglas. “We need to arrange something for my dad. The media will start harassing him, too.”

Douglas nodded. “I’ll have someone come and chat with you if that’s okay, Mr Houghton? See if we can come up with something that would work for you.”

“I’ll be fine. I know how to ward off annoying pests.”

Douglas and Mav argued with him for a few more minutes before Ronald caved and agreed to have a meeting with someone about his security. After they settled it, Douglas spent several hours getting to know Ronald better.

At six o’clock, Douglas said, “I’m sorry, but I have to go. I have dinner with my parents this evening.” Heart racing, he stared at Mav. “I would like it if you’d join me.”

Douglas watched Mav’s eyes widen, and his mouth opened and closed several times.

“Yes, he’ll join you.” At Mav’s glare, Ronald continued, “Get it over and done with now, and you can relax. I highly doubt they’ll lock you in the Tower. Although if they’d met you as a child, they might have.”

Douglas chuckled and stood. “It’s okay. We can do it another day. When you’re ready.”

Mav sniffed and tugged on his earlobe. “I suppose it’s not like I don’t know them.” He braced himself on his knees and stood.

“That’s the spirit.” Ronald rose with trembling arms. Douglas refrained from offering to help, although he wanted to. “Get off with you. I’m sure I’ll see you soon. Now that I have more time on my hands, I can get more work done around here.”

Mav whirled to face him, pointing a finger. “No climbing ladders without someone with you.”

Ronald threw his head back and laughed. “Okay, okay.”

Mav wrapped his arms around his father, and they murmured for a moment. Douglas moved closer to the door, not wanting to intrude. When Mav joined him, Douglas held out his hand.

“Thank you for having me, Mr Houghton. It was a pleasure.”

Ronald took his hand in a firm grip. “I think we can get rid of the titles now, don’t you? Call me Ron.”

“Thank you, Ron. I look forward to seeing you soon, and I’ll be in touch about the security.”

Ron waved them off, and Mav drove towards the castle. “I can’t believe I’m having dinner with your parents.”

Douglas snorted. “It’s not like you don’t know them as you said.”

“But this is different! Before, it was on a professional level. This time, it’s personal.”

Douglas slid his hand onto Mav’s thigh, squeezing. “Mother loves you. Freddie thinks you’re great. George told me to stop talking about you because you’re too perfect. And Father…you saw how he was when I was released. He likes you, too.”

Mav exhaled. “Well, I’m sure we’ll find out.”

They wandered through Windsor’s corridors after parking the car, arms wrapped around each other and lost in their own world. In Douglas’s rooms, Douglas kissed Mav with a desperation he’d not felt in a while. He rested Mav against the door, exploring his mouth while his hand covered Mav’s eyes. His other hand unfastened both their jeans and, once they were free, encircled both cocks.

Douglas tore his lips away long enough to mutter, “Thrust your hips, Mav,” and took his mouth again.

He kept his hand tight enough they both leaked precome, easing their movements. This would be fast because they were both worked up, and they had little time. A knock sounded behind Mav, and Mav stilled, pushing against the hand covering his eyes.

“Stop,” Douglas whispered. “Colour?”

Mav inhaled shakily. “Green.”
