Gareth smiled at Victor and squeezed Ben’s hand. “I’m running a little behind.”
Victor grinned, eyeing Ben. “I can understand why.”
Gareth felt Ben stiffen beside him, and he glanced across at him. “Easy to be side-tracked by this one.”
Ben’s cheeks coloured, and his lip disappeared again. Gareth narrowed his eyes. He knew, there and then, he needed to add a punishment for biting that lip. It was far too distracting. He could still sense the tension in Ben, and he nudged his arm until Ben peered at him.
“Victor, this is Ben, my…” He frowned at Ben, having not discussed how he wanted to be described to people.
“His boy,” Ben stated, narrowing his eyes at Victor.
Gareth smiled, pleased Ben had taken the initiative. “And my boss.” Ben closed his eyes, and Gareth chuckled. “Ben, this is Victor, my next-door neighbour and loosely classed as a friend.”
Victor gasped at the words. “How dare you?” Victor ruined it by laughing and waving his hand in front of him. “Okay, that’s probably true.” He sobered and stared at Ben. “We’re far too different to be of any good to each other, Ben, so don’t worry about me trying to take him from you. I’m trying to find my own Daddy.”
Victor couldn’t have said anything better than that because everything about Ben relaxed at that moment. Gareth hadn’t realised that was what Ben had been worried about. He’d put it down to meeting someone new and telling them about their relationship.
Gareth tilted his head, staring at Ben. “Do you want to come with us?”
Ben stared back, his nose wrinkling. “I don’t know.”
“You can. I can get you a guest pass for tonight, and if it’s something you like, we can get you a membership.”
Ben licked his lips, dropping his eyes, and Gareth let him have a minute. He turned back to Victor. “Are you heading there now?”
“Yeah. I’ll catch up with Preston and keep him company until you get there.” He wandered to his car. “Nice to meet you, Ben!”
Ben didn’t seem to hear, and Victor drove off. Gareth knew he wouldn’t be offended. He stepped in front of Ben. “Everything okay in there?” he said, tapping the side of Ben’s forehead.
“Will there be other people like us?”
Gareth nodded. “Plenty. Daddy kink is popular.”
“Is that all this is?” Gareth frowned, and Ben continued, “A kink? I thought it was more.”
Gareth understood at that point. He slid his arms around Ben’s waist. “It’s called a kink, but it’s more a collective name for everything that’s involved. It’s up to the people within that relationship to define what it means for them. Some people want it only on the weekends at the club. Some people want it all day, every day. It’s up to us to decide what’s right for us.”
Ben’s eyes glistened, and Gareth pecked him on the lips. “I’d like to come with you.”
Gareth smiled. “Then you shall. Do you want some clothes to change into?”
Ben glanced down at his suit with a smile. “I think getting changed is a good idea, but I have a bag in my car.”
Gareth frowned. “Why?”
Ben bit his lip. “I need them sometimes at work.”
They re-entered Gareth’s house once Ben had grabbed his bag from the boot of his car, and within minutes, Ben returned dressed in jeans and a polo shirt.
“Is this okay?”
“Perfect. You wouldn’t usually wear them for work, though.”
Ben sighed. “I sleep at work occasionally. It means I don’t have to go home.”
Gareth enveloped Ben in his arms and held him. “No more, okay? If you need to get away, come here. I don’t want you sleeping at work.”
“All right.”
