"But how did this happen?" Cam demanded, suspicious of the new man. I wasn't surprised.Daddy vibes.

"I died," Fish said softly. Cam's face turned thunderous, Kai whimpered and Sloane gasped.

"You're here though. You're not dead," Sloane said firmly, touching Fischer openly now as if trying to be sure of that fact.

Fischer took Sloane’s hands. “Don’t fight me. Just accept the memories,” he warned and Sloane stiffened initially but then gradually relaxed as Fish replaced everything he’d taken.

“Fuck,” Sloane whispered when it was done. I didn’t miss the glassy look to his eyes. Neither did Fish but it didn’t stop him from dropping Sloane’s hands like they were on fire. Poor guy stood there like he’d just been wrecked. I guess he had.

"Saige brought us back. Her magic split us and gave me a physical body," Faris supplied, breaking the moment that was rapidly growing awkward for his brother. His nostrils flared and he held a finger up.

"What are you—" I was cut off before I could finish that question. A panicked squeaking sound was coming from somewhere. Is that a mouse?

"I smell blood. Where is the red demon?" Faris asked and I immediately moved further into the living room.Oh gods. No.

Everything began moving in slow motion. Bram was lying on the floor, hidden to us before by the sofa. A knife was protruding from his stomach, blood pooling beneath his body onto my area rug.Not again. I can't.

"Bram!" I screamed, about to run to him when I was captured from behind.

"Let Faris help him, sweetheart," Fischer said against my neck as he held me back. "His powers give him healing capabilities, he’ll be able to fix him up better and faster than anyone else."

At the rate things were going, I was going to end up having a heart attack before I turned thirty. I watched in horror as Faris ripped Bram's shirt open. Blood seeped from around the knife and the room tilted on its axis.

"She's close to passing out. Come on, little witch," Cam said, scooping me up and sitting down on the couch with me firmly nestled against his chest.

"How did this happen?" Faris asked. Grabbing ahold of the knife, with one swift movement, he pulled it out of Bram's stomach.

"Fuuuuck!" Bram bellowed, the pain strong enough that it had roused him from his unconscious state. He tried to sit up, eyes wide with panic.

"You're going to be okay, but only if you lay the fuck down and quit moving. Be a good boy," Faris ordered and then booped Bram right on the nose.

"Right before we teleported or whatever that was, Asrael told Bram he was coming for the crown and then he hurled that knife at us. I thought we'd gotten out of there quick enough," Cam explained as he reached for my hands and it was only then that I realized they were trembling. "I've got you, baby girl," he whispered in my ear, just for me to hear.

"Did we make it? Is everyone... here?" Bram asked, his eyes closed. Faris was pressing on the wound with his hands, but there still seemed to be a shitload of blood.

Kai piped up. "Yeah, man. We're all here, thanks to you."

Bram smiled slightly, "Worth it. For Goldie. Hey… Kai?”

The man in question squatted down near Bram’s head. “What is it?”

“Put some fuckin’ clothes on before you poke my eye out.”

And then he promptly passed out again. I couldn’t help the laugh that slipped out, and I snagged a blanket off the couch and tossed it at Kai who was mumbling about prudes as he fastened it around his waist.

"Someone get down here and hold something on the wound, I need my hands," Faris requested and Sloane pulled his shirt over his head and dropped smoothly to his knees. Not what I was expecting, but okay...

Faris must not have been expecting it either because he scowled fiercely at Sloane.

"How are you going to heal him?" Kai asked as both he and Fischer joined the others on the floor.

Oh stars, this is going to get some reactions.

Faris grinned. "On the count of three," he said to Sloane. "One, two, three." He jerked his hands back and his fangs elongated. Kai gasped and fell back on his ass, staring at Faris with fear and confusion. With a grunt, Faris bit into his wrist and pressed it to Bram's mouth.

"Apparently, my brother is a blood mage," Fischer deadpanned and Cam's hands tightened on mine. Was he concerned about that fact? Shit, he was going to lose it when he found out I'd already let him feed on me...

"No shit? Well, I'll be damned," Kai said.
