“Damn,” Khol whispered with respect, and I grinned, but that was cut short when a loud cracking sound came from the ground.

“You can say that again,” Bette murmured, her eyes trained on the powerful man who was wielding magic like he was an extension of the earth.

“What the hell was that?” Fischer asked, looking around for the source of the sound. I focused on my brother who was now raising his arms above his head, huge chunks of hard dirt and rock joining the cyclone.

“It was the ground cracking under the force of his magic,” Saige breathed, her eyes alight with wonder.

With a final push, Hunter threw his arms to the sky, and the cyclone flew up into the air. He swiped his arms to the left, maneuvering his creation over the trees. With a forceful grunt, he brought his arms down fast, sending the swirling debris down into the forest. A deep boom resounded throughout the property, sending startled birds up into the sky.

“Holy shit, bro. That was fucking badass!” Kai shouted, clapping slowly.

“You’re an earth mage then?” I asked, walking toward Hunter and noting the sweat on his brow and the slight tremor in his arms. “Mom would be so proud that you took after her.”

He shrugged, downplaying his skills. “Yeah. I can do other stuff, but the cyclone is one of the coolest things.” A blush played on his face at the praise he was getting from the others. “Sorry about your yard,” he said to Saige with a slight wince.

“I can do similar things, but just with plants. I can fix this in a few minutes, don’t worry about it. That was freaking awesome!” Saige exclaimed, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “Can you create earthquakes as well?”

“Yes. Though I don’t, because it could be disastrous. It’s come in handy to be able to split the earth in a getaway though,” he replied smoothly, a smile on his face as he clearly recalled something from his past. “I can also sense movement through the earth, vibrations and tremors. Makes tracking really easy for me.”

“Hunter the Hunter,” Bram chuckled, his eyes trailing over my brother in fascination. I could tell Bram was thinking of something, but I didn’t get time to question him before Fischer interrupted my thoughts.

“Alright then, you’d better come with us. Let’s get going. The sooner we find some answers, the sooner we’ll get Sloane and Annie back.”

Saige huffed. “What, are you all going? I want to go too.”

“No,” I said immediately, a chorus of similar responses sounding around me.

My little witch's eyes narrowed. “I'm not some helpless little girl. I have magic. I'm half demon!” she protested, her face getting redder by the second with indignation.

“Sweetheart. That's not why we don't want you to come. We know you're not helpless—you're strong and extremely powerful. You also went through a serious ordeal last night,” Fischer reminded her gently.

“I'm fine,” she argued.

“Firefly,” Faris cooed, and slid up behind her. “Stay here with me. I want to practice some magic and I was hoping you'd help me?”

That seemed to relax her. It wasn't that she wanted to come with us—she just didn't want to feel useless. She needed a task. As a leader, I was good at giving people a purpose. Maybe that was exactly what she needed.

“Right. We'll leave in five. Meet in the living room,” I ordered, and everyone dispersed into the house to change or make final preparations. Saige trailed behind them and was about to walk through the door when I intercepted her. She squeaked as I hauled her against my chest and stepped to the side, spinning her and backing her up against the wall.

“Cam, what the hell?” she gasped.

“You listen to me, baby girl.” My fist tangled in her hair and I tilted her head back so her neck arched and she was forced to look up at me. Her lips parted and her pink tongue darted out across her bottom lip.

“You're going to stay. Right. The. Fuck. Here. You'll help Faris train. That is a priority. We need him at top performance for whatever is coming next, because you know damn well something is. We have to be prepared. Don't even think about leaving this property. Do I make myself clear?” I grumbled, needing her to take this seriously, but I also knew she was flailing on the inside. My little witch needed some direction. It would quiet her mind and reinforce the fact that she was an important part of our group. Probably the most important part, actually.

Her cheeks were red—whether that was from being pissed off at me bossing her around or being turned on by it, I wasn’t sure. She looked beautiful.

“I do what I want, Cam,” she replied, steel in her voice. “But I'll take your wishes under consideration.”

Lifting a brow, I leaned down and whispered in her ear. “Is that so?”

Her breathing increased when I pressed my lips to her throat. My teeth scraped gently across her skin, her coconut and vanilla scent enveloping me and making me wish like hell we had more than four minutes.

“You calling me Cam now, baby girl? Do I need to remind you of what you like to call me? And why?” I purred, my hands running down her waist to her voluptuous hips.Fuck, this ass.

“Yes,” she whined as I gripped her ass cheeks and lifted her, letting her wrap herself around me. Holding her chin, I kissed her softly.

“Not enough time, baby girl. But if you're good, I'd be happy to have you screaming out my name when I get back,” I promised, and she rocked against my cock.
