“No, dude. What if I shove it in her asshole instead of her pussy?”

I fell back on the grass and howled with laughter. I was wiping my tears away when all of the air was forced from my lungs with an oomph. Faris had jumped on me and punched me right in the titty.

My mouth dropped open in outrage and I covered my nipples from further attack. The audacity of this man!“What is with you people and attacking my motherfucking chest raisins? They're a gift from the gods of manly perfection, and I'm starting to think there's jealousy afoot!”

“Faris! What are you doing to Bram?” Goldie's voice rang out as she joined us outside, and I smirked like one smug asshole, knowing he was about to get scolded.

“He started it. He was making fun of me!” Faris shoved a finger in my face and gave Goldie a total puppy dog face.

I jerked, and shoved my finger back in his face. “That's a lie!”

“Well, knock it off. I'm hungry. Verging on hangry,” Goldie warned, and we straightened right up. I shoved my plate with the remaining pizza on it into her hands and pulled her on my lap.

“Oh, someone's happy to see me,” she chuckled, wiggling around on my cock. Cuz yeah, I definitely didn't have a raging fucking boner just because Faris had been pinning me down like he was a bull rider.

Faris’ eyes twinkled as he looked between the two of us. “We're always happy to see you, Firefly,” he said, ramping up the charm.

“Here, I grabbed this for us to look through. It's one of Annie's sketchbooks, but I think it's her most recent one. Maybe there's something in it?” She handed it to Faris, before taking a big bite of pizza.

I kissed her shoulder. “Good thinking, princess.”

I watched Faris as he scanned the pages, hoping there might be a lead of some kind in there. “Well? Anything?” I asked, my curiosity rising.

“Hmm, not a lot. But she's drawn this building several times. I don't recognize it, though,” he said with a frown, extending the book for me to take a look. Goldie shifted off my lap so that I could get a better look.

“Oh, holy fuck,” I cursed. Snatching the book from Faris’ hands, I jumped up and sprinted across the lawn.

“Bram! What is it?!” Goldie yelled behind me.

“Khol! Khol!” I shouted, getting his attention, as well as everyone else who was gathered around eating. “Look.” I shoved the sketchbook into his hands.

“Fuck. Where did you get this?” Khol demanded, eyes wide.

“Fuckers need to quit running around. My thighs are going to be chafed from that sprint,” Goldie muttered when she reached us. “Miranda showed it to me inside. I brought it out hoping there'd be something useful. It's Annie's. Is there? Something useful, I mean?” she asked, her voice full of hope.

Khol and I shared a look. “Yeah. It's useful,” he said slowly. The rest of the guys and Miranda had now gathered around, eager to hear what the latest development was.

“What is it? You know where Annie is?” Miranda asked hesitantly, like if she voiced it aloud, it would make the possibility disappear.

“We do,” I told her.

“For fuck's sake, where is she then?” Kai growled.

“She's in Besmet. And I bet Sloane is, too.”

Things were rolling now.Fast.

We analyzed every page of that sketchbook, looking for clues. Khol and I had immediately recognized the building because Annie had drawn it with the landscape behind it. A well-known mountain range was sketched in the distance, and the laboratory had a very distinct design. It was a facility that my father had set up to study the infertility rates in the realm. I'd never been inside, but I’d been present during the drawing of the blueprints, and I’d seen plenty of pictures of it after it was built. I found the fact that this was where Annie and Sloane were—or most likely were, since we hadn't gotten any definite confirmation—extremely interesting.

Who was really running the lab? My father? What interest would he have in Sloane and Annie? That makes no sense. So Asrael then... but how is he back in Besmet, and when did he return?

“I can hear you thinking from all the way over here,” Kai called, as he laced up his boots and buckled his vest. We were going in full tactical gear; you couldn't be too careful going into a place when you weren't certain of all of the variables.

“Just going over everything. I don't want any errors.” I rose to my full height, clicking my belt in place.

The sound of a phone vibrating had everyone freezing. Cam dug his phone out of his pocket and put it on speaker.
