“Oh, honey. I can see why he likes you,” he said appreciatively, keeping his eyes on Baggie. He'd conjured fire in his hands, and Baggie was keeping his distance for the moment.

The sound of glass shattering and furniture being flipped told me time was running out.

“We need to go,” Bram said, an edge of unease in his voice.

“What? No!” I argued. “We're not leaving without him. Or Annie.”

“Baby girl,” Cam rasped, pulling me against him. “This isn't safe. It's out of our control right now. We at least need to get somewhere safe until whatever’s happening with Sloane passes…”

I was about to respond when a deafening roar shook the fucking walls, and my hands automatically flew to my ears to protect them.

Several things then happened at once and it was like living in slow motion.

Baggie lunged with his full weight at Sloane's father, catching a fireball in the chest, but not slowing. I screamed as Baggie's jaws clamped around the evil man's throat.

“Scruffy!”

Oh my stars. That sound. That small voice...

“Annie!” I yelled, as she darted from beneath a table and sprinted into Khol's arms.

I didn't get a chance to step in her direction before flying debris from Sloane's rage came in our direction. A large microscope clipped Faris in the head, and he hit the floor.

“Fuck!” Bram shouted. “We're leaving,now.”

“Get Kai," Cam yelled to Bram. My demon sprang into action, dragging Bagheera off the gurgling piece of shit.

“Khol, go. Get Annie out of here,” I snapped. “Take Faris and Cam with you. I'll bring Fischer!”

“Fuck no,” Cam barked, stepping toward me.

Khol bent down with Annie in his arms and grabbed hold of Faris by the arm, hoisting him up and over his shoulder as though he weighed nothing. Kai shifted back with a growl, a huge burn on his chest and blood dripping down his chin. I blinked back tears at the sight of my men, my loves, being hurt.

“Cam, get your ass over here,” Khol commanded.

My storm mage lifted his middle finger, not turning to look at my father.

‘I can't leave him, Guppy.’I pushed the thought through our mental connection.

‘Then we won't,’he replied with determination.

Fischer stepped in front of me as Khol moved in behind Cam.

“We'll come back as soon as possible,” Cam told Fischer.

Fish nodded. “Yes, we will.” With that, he pushed Cam back hard enough that Khol was able to get a grip on his shoulder. In a blink, the four of them were gone.

“I swear to the fuckin' moon…” Bram scowled at the two of us, Kai clinging to his arm, trying desperately to remain on his feet.

“Kai,” I cried out when his eyes rolled back and he slumped, nearly hitting the ground before Bram caught him around the arms.

“Get him out of here,” Fischer shouted, as more shit flew through the room.

Bram's pained gaze met mine, and a tear slipped from my eye. “Get him safe, please,” I begged.

His nostrils flared, clearly torn between forcing us to go with them and honoring my request. “I love you, Goldie. But I am so fucking pissed right now,” Bram growled, his already intimidating height growing another six inches as his horns began twisting. “Let's go, Alpha,” he said to Kai, his voice deep and distorted. With a final parting glare, they disappeared from view. A desk sailed through the air right where they'd been standing before shattering against the wall.

“They're scared, sweetheart. It'll be okay,” Fischer told me. “Let's get our man and get the fuck out of here.”
