“Go shower. I'll take one after.”
The little psycho looked back at me. “The first time I do fuck you, don't worry. I'll go easy on your loose butthole.”
I launched a pillow at him. “You little shit,” I growled, hopping off the bed. He was gone in a flash, the door slamming behind him.
I blew out a breath and adjusted myself. Bloody hell, I was hornier than an army of demons.
Falling back on the bed, I stared at the ceiling and thought about my woman.Where are you, Goldie?I hoped she was okay because the mere thought of her being harmed again—by anyone—was almost enough to send me on a rampage. I was done with all of the bullshit. If a male so much as looked at her too long from here on out, he'd have his belly slit open and I'd strangle him with his intestines before he got the chance to take another look.
Part of me thought that Goldie would probably like that. Nah, she would fucking love it. That's what I enjoyed about her. On the outside, she projected this innocence, this... purity. Which was absolutely a part of who she was... but then there was this other part—the crazy part. The part that was filthy, sexy, depraved, and bloodthirsty when the situation called for it.
And she was getting stronger. Every day that passed, she worked hard to hone her skills and master her new abilities. She was a natural at flying.
I was getting thirsty now, so I ventured downstairs in search of some coffee. The house was quiet. I fixed myself a mug of delicious caffeine, and headed off to find the two missing mages.Wonder if they went into town?
My question answered itself when I found them sitting on the back patio discussing Hunter and his mission.
“Gentlemen,” I greeted, taking a seat. I looked over Kai quickly, and was pleased to see that there was hardly any sign of injury.
“Hey, man. How's your morning?” Cam asked, scribbling something into his notebook.
“It's going…” I paused when I caught Kai staring at me with a knowing look on his face. My face flamed, and I hid it behind a very long, slow sip of coffee.
Cam looked up. “We haven't heard from Hunter yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything's wrong. I'm sure he'll reach out soon.”
“And the others? I didn't sense them, but have you heard anything?” I asked, hope evident in my tone.
“Sorry, bro. Nothing yet,” Kai replied. “Though it appears Maven is back. I can smell him. He's in the living room.”
“Thank the gods. Goldie will be so pleased. That damn fox means so much to her,” I muttered.
“WHO THE FUCK?” Faris' voice boomed, and the three of us jumped up so quickly our chairs tumbled back. Kai was through the door first, racing inside.
“Faris!” I yelled.
Rounding the curve to peer into the living room, I snarled and rushed at the demon in front of me.How did a demon get in the fucking house?
“Who the hell are you?” I growled, tackling him to the floor.
“Get. Off,” he grunted. His voice was raspier than a chain-smoking jazz singer. His golden wings fanned out beneath him, as did his long white hair.
“Who the fuck is he?” Cam growled, and I could hear electricity sparking behind me.
“Who sent you? What’s your angle here? You won’t leave here alive if you think for one second you’ll touch a hair on her head!” I snarled, fury pulsating through my body like shockwaves.
“I’m not here to harm anyone. Let me up, lad. I can't breathe like this. Let me explain,” he grunted beneath me.
Glancing at the other men, I waited until we were all in agreement before moving off the man. “Try anything and I will end you,” I threatened.
The demon slowly sat up and brushed his shirt off. He was definitely older, which made me curious. Demons didn't age like humans.
Kai released a rumble from deep within his chest.
“What is it, K?” Cam asked.
“Tell you in a second,” Kai replied, stripping out of his clothes and immediately shifting into Bagheera.
“Anything to say?” Faris hissed at the demon who sat dead still while the panther circled him.
