“Okay, first of all”—I held up a finger—“that sounds really fun, especially if we can do it without clothing. Second of all, nobody’s going to hurt you. Tell her, Lixy.”
My brother reached out for our girl, and shesnarled. Oh my stars, pretty sure I felt hearts explode in my eyes. I no longer had circular pupils; they were now heart-shaped. Or bunny-shaped.
Felix sighed, running his rejected hand through his dark hair. “Palmer. Listen, things got a little out of hand earlier. That wasn’t expected. In a perfect world, you never would’ve seen us… like this.” He fluttered his wings and whipped his tail in demonstration. “But here we are. Lucky for you, we want to make a deal.”
She eyed him warily, like he didn’t just tell herhey, good news! We aren’t going to kill your ass!No, she was stink eyeing him, like she’d witnessed him put the toilet paper under instead of over.
“I’ll be the one arranging the agreement,” Ashland piped up, drawing her evil eye to him. I wonder if that’d cause eye strain or premature wrinkles. Lowering my eyelids, I attempted to match her expression while Ash continued. “No funny business, I promise. You just can’t tell anyone about what you saw here tonight. We don’t know you well enough yet to take your word that you’ll stay silent. I propose you stay here with us for six months while we evaluate our relationship. If you break our agreement, there will be... consequences. We enjoyed tonight and wouldn’t mind a repeat sometime. Can’t do that if you’re unavailable.”
Palmer snorted. “Unavailable.Right.” She crossed her arms over her chest. “You mean dead.”
“I was trying to be delicate about it, but yes.”
Yeah, this was not a good position for someone to hold for long. My eyelids were beginning to twitch! How the hell was she doing this?!
“Let me get this right—you don’t want me to tell anyone who you are, but you also don’t want to kill me.”
We all nodded.
“You want me to stay with you for six months and fuck around some more.”
We nodded harder.
“Okaaaaay...” The word dragged out, and I didn’t miss the wolfish grin on Ash’s face—probs thinking about what it’d be like to fuck her with a knotty knot. “Then why the fuck is Talon looking at me like he’s going to go murder city on my ass?!” she shrieked, pointing an accusing finger at me before turning on her heel and sprinting away from us.
“Ah fuck,” Felix muttered, as Palmer snatched her shredded clothing from the floor before disappearing back into the maze.
“Dammit, Tal. What the hell, man?” Ash looked over at me, then immediately reared back. “The fuck kind of face isthat?”
I relaxed my facial muscles and let out a groan of relief. “I was trying out a new look and it didn’t take, okay? Fuck off my dick.”
Felix laughed, then pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh. “Well, we have a bunny to catch… again.”
Ash’s phone started ringing, and I saw Rhodes’s face on the screen just before Ash accepted the call. “Yeah?”
“We have a problem.” Rhode’s voice filtered through the speaker.
“What kind of problem?”
“You guys are gonna want to get down to the dungeon. Our little rat is running his mouth.”
“We’ll be there soon.” Ash ended the call. “Felix and Talon, you’re with me. Misha, fetch our bunny,” he ordered, already heading for the exit.
I held up my palm, stopping him. “But the deal? Shouldn’t we finalize that shit first?”
Felix chuckled and shook his head. “Ash got her, bro. While you were busy making your ‘I’m shitting so hard right now’ face.”
I thought back quickly. “Oh, you smooth bastard.” An evil little grin sprouted on my mouth. “Good work.” She’d repeated the deal back to us, to which we’d all nodded—sealing our agreement when she said okay. Fucking beautiful.
Misha stalked away, heading for the same path Palmer had disappeared down. I had no doubt he’d catch her. As much as I wanted to catch her myself, I really wanted to go fuck up that little rat bitch in the dungeon. And with the way my dick had acted around my little Bun-Bun earlier, it was probably for the best that I gave it a little breathing room to chill the fuck out.
Felix and I pulled our demons back inside, and I rolled my shoulders, adjusting to the loss of my wings and tail. Ash slung his arms over our shoulders, and the three of us headed the opposite direction.
“This is the best night of my life,” I whispered, before tilting my head back and howling, hoping my little Bun-Bun would recognize me. If not, no big deal. I had six months to brand myself on her fucking soul, and I was going to own her.
Every. Fucking. Piece.
