Chapter 14
Tank
“Tank calm down. Thiswon’t get us anywhere.” Cobra tries to reason with me. In this frame of mind, I can’t hear him. I don’t want to hear him.
Fuel, Reaper and Hound step back, not saying a word. I barrel past them to where Denny is sitting on the curb with an ice pack pressed against the back of his head. A fucking ice pack.Pussy.
“What the fuck happened here, asshole? You should have been watching her.” My fist collides with his jaw. The cracking of bone resonates through the air.
I don’t know what Chainz was thinking, letting this burnout fucking take a shift protecting her. If I have anything to do with it, this will be the last assignment he ever fucking gets. This kid is done. Denny opens his mouth to speak, but I cut him off, “Choose your words carefully or I’ll fucking kill you right here.”
Denny closes his mouth, then opens it again. “I’m sorry.” He drops his eyes to the ground and inhales a deep breath. “I followed her down to the warehouses. I had my eyes on her the entire time. Then I felt a blow to the back of my head and blacked out. When I came to, she was gone. I called it in as soon as I saw that.” Denny points behind me.
I turn in the direction he’s pointing. Fuel, Reaper, Hound and Cobra are standing next to a blue Mustang GTS. I stalk toward them. “Are you sure that’s hers?”
I have to ask. The other night was the first time I’ve seen her in years. I don’t know what kind of car she drives. I want them to be wrong, although my gut knows they’re not. I squat down beside the driver’s side and look at the tire. This was no blow out the slash is long and wide like only a hefty blade could do.
Hound nods his head. “There’s a bag in the backseat with woman’s clothes in it and her purse and cell phone are on the front seat.”Clothes? My fist clench at my side. She packed a bag. She was going to come back with me.
I move toward the tire tracks, cocking my head to the side. “Get a picture of these. We can match the tread to a vehicle. It could help.”
“Already did and sent them to Chainz. They’re working on that now.” Hound reassures me. He’s ex-military and the best damn tracker there is. I don’t mean to be condescending, but my girl’s life is on the line. There can’t be anything overlooked.
“No cameras?” I ask. Seems like a business like this would have security cameras all over the place.
“CCTV.” Hound nods. “I ran the IP address through my program. They weren’t recording at the time of the attack.”
Attack. My stomach jumps to my throat. “This was fucking planned.”
“It looks that way. We also searched the warehouses. One was empty and there’s nothing unusual in the others.”
“He did this. He knows what she means to me. That bastard was only appeased when his lies were keeping us apart. That was about to change, and he can’t stand that. I need to pay my father a visit.”
Cobra steps to me, placing his hand on my shoulder. “We need to be smart about this. Let’s go back to the clubhouse and figure out where she is before you tip your hand. Trust us.”
I draw my hands through my hair and exhale. “The car goes with us.”
“Tow truck is on the way.” Fuel informs me.
“Then let’s go.” I’m no good to her standing around here when they have everything covered. All I can do now is wait until we can figure out the next move or fucking kill someone. I face Denny, who’s on his feet, ready to join us. I hold out my arm, slapping my hand against his chest. “Wait here for the tow truck. Think you can handle that task?”
“Yes, sir.”
Good. This mother fucker needs to stay the hell away from me. An ice pack won’t fix the hurt I want to inflict on him right now. “Don’t fuck this one up.” I toss over my shoulder as the rest of us head for our bikes.
