“A Glock and sixty grand,” Logan says casually. “The usual.”

I blink. “Right. Of course. Like groceries.”

He turns to me, eyes sharp but amused. “You cool?”

I glance at Lucas. He just shrugs, tossing a towel over the cash like it’s nothing.

“She’s good,” he says. Then, without pause: “She’s my girlfriend.”

I freeze.

Girlfriend?

Logan lifts a brow. “Since when?”

“Since I met her.” Lucas doesn’t even flinch.

My heart lurches.

Logan whistles low. “You’re soft. Bonnie’s gonna tear you apart for this.”

Lucas smirks. “Let her try.”

Logan turns to me, lips twitching. “Welcome to the family, sweetheart. Hope you like guns and generational trauma.”

And just like that, he’s gone. A whirlwind leaving behind silence and a suspicious duffle bag.

I stare at Lucas. “Girlfriend?”

He strolls over, hooks a hand around my waist, pulls me flush against him. His voice drops.

“You’ve had your mouth on me, my come inside you, my name in your throat, and my soul in your back pocket for weeks, Maddy. What else would I call you?”

My breath hitches. “Oh.”

His grin is sharp. “You gonna fight me on it?”

I smirk. “No. But I am gonna steal your hoodie.”

Chapter 29

Reality

I wake up to emptiness.

Lucas isn’t beside me.

The bed’s still warm on his side, but the air’s gone cold.

I wrap the silk robe around myself and pad barefoot through the villa, tile cool beneath my feet. Moonlight pours through the windows in ghost-blue streaks.

Then I see him.

Slouched on the floor by the low table, phone light glowing across his face.

He’s scrolling.
