He flinched. Not at her touch at her words.
Her voice broke, but she didn’t waver. “Because I love you, Logan. And you either let me in all the way, or you leave me alone forever.”
Silence stretched. His breathing was rough, uneven.
Finally, his hand lifted hesitantly, trembling and cupping the side of her face. His thumb brushed her cheek like she was something too fragile for him.
“You’re going to regret loving me,” he whispered.
Her eyes burned, but she didn’t look away. “Not once.”
And for the first time in his life, Logan believed her.
Chapter 24
Mile High Club
The private jet was sleek, silent, and stupidly luxurious. Maddison curled up on one of the cream leather seats like she owned the damn thing. Bare legs stretched out, oversized sunglasses perched on her head, mimosa in hand.
Lucas sat across from her, eyes fixed on the file in his lap. Or pretending to be.
She wasn’t making it easy.
“So…” her voice was syrupy as she sipped, “is there in-flight entertainment? Or just you, Mr. CEO?”
“Read your briefing.” He didn’t look up.
“You mean the one you packed yourself… so I won't get bored?”
His eyes flicked to hers. Finally,
“You said you wanted to be involved.”
“Mhm. But I don’t think you expected me to be so involved.”
Her tongue dragged along the rim of her glass, deliberately slow.
Lucas’s grip on his pen tightened.
Maddison leaned forward, silk sliding off her thigh like an accident.
“You’re sweating.”
“I’m not.”
“You are,” she smirked. “Altitude? Or the fact you can’t do anything about how hard you’re getting rightnow?”
His nostrils flared. Still silent.
“What if I crawled over there right now?” she purred. “Unzipped those expensive trousers, got on my knees, and made you forget this deal even exists…”
“Maddison.” His voice cracked, low and dangerous.
She smiled, all innocence. “Yes, sir?”
He glared. “If we weren’t in the air,”
“You’d what?” she whispered. “Punish me?”
