Tyler rummaged in his bags for absolutely no reason. If he saw that magnificent cock, he would certainly lose this battle of wills.
By the time he stood, Danny was in the pyjamas.
“You’re cute,” Tyler said.
“From sexy to cute. Not sure about that.”
Tyler leapt on the bed. He held his arm out.
“Come on.”
Danny got on the bed and snuggled into him.
“How’s Bruce?” Tyler asked. He stroked Danny’s head.
“He’s shaken up. I don’t know, it’s like he’s shrunk since I saw him the other day.”
“And Denise?”
“Worried. She’s been on at him to scale the business down for ages. I think she’s going to win that argument now.”
Tyler heard the emotion in Danny’s voice.
“You really care about them, don’t you?”
“They’re family to me. When I worked with Bruce, it was one of the best times in my life.”
Danny sat up so he faced Tyler. His eyes bright with the memories.
“I really got into finding new life in knackered old furniture.”
Tyler took his hand. “You sound like you miss it?”
“Like you wouldn’t believe. Haven’t you ever had that feeling where it’s more than earning money?”
“Danny, I get that every day. It’s not right that you don’t.”
Danny’s face dropped. “You’re right. I’m just a fuck-up.”
“Don’t say that,” Tyler cried. “Do you still upcycle stuff? For fun, I mean.”
Danny shrugged. “No room at home. You’ve seen how mad it is.”
Tyler’s heart went out to him. He loved his job. It hurt him that Danny endured the day.
“We’ll find your path. If you’d like to.”
“I’d love to.”
Tyler pulled him into his arms. “Bruce will be okay, you know. He’s got you on his side, after all.”
Danny squeezed him. “And I’ve got you.”
They fell asleep in each other’s arms.
