Fancy a drink on Tuesday?he typed.

As soon as he’d pressed Send, he threw the phone onto the bedside cabinet with a clatter. He did not intend on spending the next hour staring at it, willing Tyler to respond.

“Oi,” Ben protested.

“My room, my rules,” Danny replied.

Ben emerged from under the duvet. His hair stuck up in every direction.

“This was my room too.”

“Was.”

“You’re a dick.”

“Agreed.”

“Who are you messaging at this time anyway. Mr Loverman?”

“Shut up.”

Ben sat up. “It was him though.”

“Yes. Now go back to sleep.”

“I don’t know why you’re being all weird. Everyone has a bit of bi in them.”

Danny snapped to attention. “What did you say?”

“Don’t get out of your pram. I gave it a go. Not for me.”

He was amazed at his brother. They had lived in one of the most sexually free towns in England ever since they’d been born. It appeared Ben had taken control of his own feelings. Danny had been hiding his for years.

“I’m shocked.”

“You’re uptight. That’s your problem.”

“I am not uptight. I’ve slept with loads of people. Boys and girls.”

“Sex is sex. Doesn’t mean anything.”

His phone vibrated. He grabbed it and read the reply.

“Isn’t that against the rules of fuck buddying?”

A faint stab of rejection hit him in the chest. Still, he had vowed to take his mother’s advice.

“Sitting in a bar with you knowing what I’ll have in my rucksack for later will be the horniest thing I’ve ever fucking done.”

He pressed Send.

“What’s the matter?” Ben asked. “Just go for it. What have you got to lose?”

“He isn’t interested in that,” Danny said, dropping the phone onto the duvet. “He’s totally together, Ben. Good job, really nice flat. What am I bringing to the table? A sleepover at my parents in two single beds?”

“Dan, you really piss me off when you do this.”

“Do what?”
