“That feels nice,” Prin said.
“Don’t get any ideas,” Scott replied. “Some of us are the wrong side of thirty.”
“The hazards of dating an older man.”
Hearing him say that made Scott’s heart soar. He stood up and wrapped his arms around Prin’s waist.
“I’ll give you a run for your money in every race, Prin Lum, and don’t you forget it.”
SIXTEEN
PRIN
After checking out of the hotel, they’d decided to carry on the weekend together. Scott declared it an official date day.
First up they had chosen a long lunch in a fish restaurant right in the heart of Brighton. It was a very fancy place, with art deco booths lining two walls. Prin and Scott were cuddled up in one, sharing a bottle of Sancerre.
“I don’t care if people know about us,” Scott said. “I’m proud to be with you. Unless you’re embarrassed of me.”
“After last night?” Prin replied, reaching across and taking hold of Scott’s hand. “I’m in for the long haul. I think you’ve ruined me for other men.”
Scott sprang up and faced Prin. “That kind of talk will get me horny all over again.”
“Down, boy,” Prin said with a laugh. “There will be no bathroom blow job.”
“Spoilsport.”
“Scotty.”
A ridiculously handsome man approached the booth. He was tan with blond hair and dazzling teeth.
“Matteus,” Scott said. His nervous glance told Prin all he needed to know about what had gone on between Scott and the beaming Matteus.
“Don’t I get a hug?” Matteus asked, holding his arms wide.
Slowly, Scott shuffled out of the booth. No sooner was he out than Matteus pulled him close. He let his hand drop to Scott’s butt.
Prin froze.
Poor Scott jumped back.
“Where are you going tonight?” Matteus asked, clearly oblivious. “How about meeting up? Come to mine for afters.”
“I’m good,” Scott replied. “I’m with someone now.”
Matteus’ mouth dropped open. “You? Wow. Who’s the lucky man?”
“This is Prin,” Scott said, “My special someone.”
Seemingly for the first time, Matteus registered Prin’s existence. He stared at him for longer than was comfortable.
“Oh, okay. Of course. I’m so sorry. Very nice to meet you, Pran. You must have something very special to tame this one.” He leered at Scott. “Don’t be a stranger.”
When he’d gone, Scott turned to Prin and exhaled. “Fuck that was awkward. I’m so sorry.”
Prin had no words. He had frozen. The expression of sheer disbelief on Matteus’ face had cut him deeply.
Who the fuck am I kidding?
