He could see disappointment fill her eyes, so he leaned forward and grabbed her hands. “Nah, this ain’t that. I’m gon’ win the bet regardless. I’m not worried about that shit at all. I genuinely want to check your temperature and see how you’re feeling about me. About us.”

“You’re so sure of yourself, aren’t you?”

“Always been that way. Answer the question.”

She rolled her eyes. “No, I’m not in love with you.”

“You know, one of these days, I’m gon’ make you roll your eyes for a whole new reason if you keep that shit up.”

“I . . . literally don’t know what to say to you sometimes.”

Nico chuckled. He had that effect on women, but there was something about her being flustered over him that did him in.

“Answer my other question.”

“What question?”

“How do you feel about us?”

She opened her mouth to respond and then closed it and thought for a second before she opened it again. “Truthfully?”

“Only way to be with me, cookie.”

“I like you, but I’m scared of being so wrapped up in a man again that I lose myself.”

He respected that answer more than she would ever know. “I’d never allow that to happen. You’re too precious to be lost. You ain’t gotta take my word for it. Time will tell.”

Remedie stared into his eyes as if she was trying to figure him out. Finally, she said, “Yeah, I guess it will.”

CHAPTER ELEVEN

As soon as they stepped foot inside Nico’s big ass house, Remedie realized she didn’t want the night to end. There was no way she could admit that out loud though. She didn’t want to give him the idea that he was winning his stupid little bet.

Remedie chewed on her bottom lip as she lingered in the entryway of the home. She looked around as if she had never seen it before. When her eyes finally landed on Nico, she froze.

“What?”

He stood there staring at her with the biggest grin, like he knew a juicy secret. “You had a good time, ain’t you?”

She ducked her head. Hell yeah, she had a good time. He let her order whatever she wanted, and she ate until her heart was content. He listened to her rant and rave about the flavors of the food, and he loved every selection she ordered for the table. That right there was her love language, but again, she couldn’t tell his ass that. He already had a gigantic head.

She shrugged. “It was cool.”

For some reason, she could tell he saw right the fuck through her. “Yeah, aight. You want to Netflix and chill or somethin’?”

He licked his lips, which sent a direct pulse to her pussy. She nodded slowly.

“That’s cool.”

“Bet.” He took off jogging toward the stairs. “Meet me in my room.”

Her jaw dropped. “Wait, your room?”

He stopped once he got to the top of the stairs and turned to look at her. “What you think Netflix and chill means, cookie? We ain’t watchin’ no damn movie.”

He chuckled and disappeared from her sight. She heard him laugh all the way down the hall while she stood there with her jaw wide open.

After a few seconds, Remedie shook her head to shake the wild thoughts running rampant through her mind. Though her brain screamed at her to go to her room and stay the hell there, her pussy was on a completely different time. She walked her hot in the pants ass all the way up to her room, stripped naked, and had the audacity to take a quick shower . . .happily, like she was excited for what was about to go down.
