“Why?” he growls before holding my face with both hands, kissing me and nipping my lower lip hard enough to shock me with the stinging pleasure. “Because.” He releases me.
I stare at him, intrigued by the shift from chivalrous manners to commanding territory. I conclude that he’s used to commanding because he’s a prince. Regardless, I still want him, and I don’t see why I have to wait just “because.” Am I that resistible? Which brings me to another question.
“Lucas?”
His eyes are hooded, his voice gruff. “Yeah.”
“Why didn’t you join me last night? I mean, I was just across the living room.”
His eyes smolder into mine, and my breath stalls. “Because I told myself I wasn’t going to take advantage of your vulnerable state after what you’d been through.” He scowls. “I already hate your ex, and I never met him.”
A swell of emotions clogs my throat. “Oh,” I manage. “That’s sweet.”
He leans his head back on the seat, closing his eyes and letting out a manly sigh. “Now that I know you’re into it, it seems we’re on the same page. A fun hookup, right?”
I nearly flinch but manage to say, “Right.” That’s all it is, a hookup, and I should be okay with that. He’s making it clear this is nothing more than an itch that needs scratching. Simple, casual fun.
I fidget a bit, still achy and needy. Even after all this talk I didn’t cool down enough to drop it. I don’t want to wait anymore, and I’m just frustrated enough to say, “You got me really worked up in this limo and now you’re making me wait. You know what I think? I think you’re a-a tease.”
His eyes flash, and I blurt, “Just kid—” which is as far as I get. He yanks me by the hips, landing me flat on my back, shoves my gown up past my waist, and pulls my lacey panties down and off.
My heart thunders in my chest, my breath coming harder. And then he shifts, lowering his head and dragging his tongue right down the center of me. I stop breathing.
“Jesus, you taste so good,” he groans and dives back for more.
I’m lost in white-hot pleasure like I’ve never felt before. My brain shuts down, soft cries escaping my throat as he takes me up, higher and higher, and then I break hard, shuddering violently against him, my whole world going dim.
And when I come back to myself, there is nothing but Lucas’s eyes gleaming at me with an intensity that tells me he’s done teasing. My body hums, my pulse rushing through my veins. I’ve unleashed the wild beast. I just hope I can survive the ride with my heart intact.

Lucas
She threw herself at me. I wouldnothave initiated. I told myself it had to be Alice who wanted it, her desire that made us cross the line no matter how badly I wanted her. Now I can’t deny the urging of my body. Her sexy demands would’ve broken a less strong-willed man in that limo. She deserves better than a quick fuck in the backseat.
I can still taste her on my tongue. We’re heading for the penthouse elevator at our hotel, and I’m dying to get to the room and inside her.
“Slow down,” she says on a laugh as I pull her along with me.
I adjust my pace a bit, still holding her hand to make her hurry. The guards are following close behind us. Just Alice and I step into the private elevator, and the guards watch the doors close. They’ll head to their room below us once they know we’re heading up.
The moment the doors close, we slam together. I smack the button for our room, and then my hands slide all over her, my mouth hungry. I want her like I’ve never wanted another woman before. She’s tugging my hair, her fingers fisted on the back of my shirt. Her moans only make me wilder to have her.
The doors open, and I tear myself away, grab her hand and race down the hall to the door. Then we’re in, and I pull her straight to my bedroom, shut the door, and pin her against it, pressing my body fully against her softness, my mouth devouring hers. Need claws at me, and I struggle for restraint. I want her pleasure too.
I break the kiss and turn her, my breath labored as I unzip her gown.Slow down.I kiss her neck, and she leans back against me, tilting her head to the side to give me better access. She smells like flowers and sexy woman, and I don’t know how much longer I can wait. I turn her to face me and slide the gown off her shoulders. It drops to her waist. I get only a brief glimpse of smooth creamy skin and full round breasts with rosy peaks that pebble into hard points under my gaze before she clutches the gown to her chest, covering up.
“Why don’t we turn out the lights?” she asks brightly and turns them off.
Complete blackness.
I turn them back on. “I want to see you. What’s wrong? I already saw you in the limo.”
Her lashes flutter down. “That was under flattering dim light. Let me see if I can adjust…” She shifts the switch so dim I can barely see the outline of her.
“Do you always make love with the lights out?”
She giggles. “Make love.”
