The moment I get into Cooper’s car, we reach for each other, kissing passionately. I can’t get enough of him.
I pull away. “I won’t hurt you. Mackenzie’s afraid I will, but I’ll be careful.”
“My sister needs to mind her own business.”
“As long as we’re one hundred percent honest with each other, no one gets hurt. Like, if you want to go out with one of the women you meet at the bar, like that maid or the bunny, that’s okay. Just tell me.”
He strokes my hair back from my face, an amused look on his face. “Rowan, I don’t want a maid or a bunny. You know I make money with tips, right? I’m friendly to everyone.”
“Right, right. But if you did want to be with someone else, just let me know, no hard feelings.”
“I don’t want you to be with someone else. I want you all to myself.”
“I don’t want to be with anyone. I only made an exception for you because you’re so…”
“Sexy?” He flexes both arms. “Strong?” He winks. “Charming?”
“Good. Because you’re so good.”
He throws his head back dramatically. “Not the good-guy label. That’s the guy you keep in the friend category.”
I rub his chest under his boxer robe. “You’re the sexiest friend I’ve ever had. Now can we please go back to your place so I can show you what I do with my sexiest friend?”
He starts the car, puts it in gear, and peels out of the lot. “I like your style.”
“I like you. A lot.”
He glances at me, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Yeah?”
I nod.
He takes my hand, entwining our fingers together. I’m happy. I’m actually happy. As long as I don’t think about the future, I can revel in the magic of Cooper.

Cooper
Three weeks go by in a blur of sexy times and lots of laughs. Dare I say Rowan is happy? I know I am. We spend every Sunday together all day and night. She’s a regular at Sunday family dinner. They all love her. Wednesday nights we have dinner at my place, and she spends the night. When I’m working, she shows up on her lunch break to have lunch with me in the kitchen at Happy Endings.
I can’t deny my feelings any more, but I keep it to myself. Tomorrow Rowan goes to small claims court. If she wins, like I think she will with her dad’s help, then I’ll know if she chooses me or her old life.
My gaze collides with hers the moment she walks into Happy Endings. She just got off work. She beams at me, and my heart kicks harder.
She goes up to the bar, leans across it, and kisses me. She’s not as worried about people knowing about us. A good sign.
“How’d it go today at love central?” I ask.
“Pretty good. I feel like I’m really contributing now, you know?”
I incline my head. “I’m sure you are. So you think you might want to stay on there permanently?”
“I’m not sure. The thing I like best is the online marketing and social media, so maybe I should do that instead with my own business, and Love Junkies could be one of my clients.”
“Working from Clover Park?”
“Well, I suppose that’s a possibility with remote work, but since I’m starting from scratch, I’d probably have more luck picking up big clients if I was networking in the city. I got my condo deposit back, so I could move back now.”
“Okay.”
