Owen parks and cups the back of my neck, drawing me close for a kiss. “You look beautiful. Are you ready for the mob scene in there?”

I laugh. “It’s not a mob scene. Believe me, I’ve experienced those. It’s just your family, who I love.”

“And they love you too.”

“Good.”

“Stay right there.”

He gets out of the car and walks around to my side, umbrella in hand.

I smooth out the bottom of my black dress. The dress is new. Long sleeves with a cutout on top to show off my cleavage, which by the way is not huge, but it’s still flattering. The bottom ends mid-thigh. I paired it with strappy black heels. Owen’s wearing a charcoal gray suit with no tie.

He opens my door and helps me out, holding the umbrella over me. He shuts the door behind me.

I rub his chest. “Looking mighty handsome in your suit, Mr. Campbell.”

“Looking mighty beautiful in your dress, future Mrs. Campbell.”

“Uh, I’m actually not taking your name for professional reasons.”

“I know, but I’ll think of you as Mrs. Campbell anyway.”

“You’re surprisingly old-fashioned.”

“You take that back.” He hands me the umbrella and then shocks me by sweeping me off my feet in his romantic way.

“What’re you doing!”

He starts walking toward the back door of Happy Endings. “I’m going to carry you over the threshold.”

“Isn’t that what you doafteryou’re married?”

“I don’t know. I didn’t check with Aunt Hailey on the proper wedding protocol. By the way, she has a wedding today across the street at Ludbury House, but she says she should be able to pop in to congratulate us.”

“Let’s have our wedding in Clover Park with Hailey running it. Ludbury House is beautiful.”

“I’m glad you said it first because I know she’d be crushed if we didn’t let her help plan it. That’s actually where my parents got married.”

I rub his chest. “I know, and they’re still happily married.”

“I have to warn you, Hailey is a force.”

“So am I.”

He sets me down by the back door. “No, seriously.”

“Owen, I can handle her just like I handle you.”

His large hand cradles my jaw. “Oh, you handle me, do you?” He lowers his head, his lips meeting mine in a tender kiss.

I drop the umbrella, grab his head, and kiss him again, all of my love and affection pouring into a long passionate kiss.

When we break apart, I spot Zander on the other side of the door, his head turned away for privacy.

“I think we just gave Zander an eyeful,” I say, picking up the umbrella. “Hey, the rain stopped.” I close it and set it against the side of the building.

“Zander will have to get used to it.” He scoops me up, and I squeal in surprise.
