“It’s getting colder,” he whispered.
“It is. Maybe you should take me inside and warm me up,” she smiled.
“Bailey, I couldn’t refuse you a damn thing. God help me, I don’t think I could ever say no to you,” he said kissing her passionately on the front porch. She smiled up at him, reaching for the doorknob and leading him inside.
He locked the door behind them, staring at the fire. Bailey looked back at him with the same thoughts.
“I’ve never made love in front of a fire before.”
“I haven’t either,” he grinned. “Get naked Bailey or I’m going to tear those clothes off your body.”
“Tear them off,” she smirked.
Angus didn’t pause at all. He ripped the clothing from her body, lying her in front of the fire naked and began to explore all over again.
“I love every crevice, every curve, every birthmark on this gorgeous body,” he said sliding his hand over her flat, taut belly. “I cannot wait until our child is growing inside you.”
“Oh, Angus,” she said as emotions bubbled to the surface. “Love me. Love me all night.”
“Not a problem.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
“Did you find her?” asked Hilal.
“No sir. There are no records of her boarding a plane or train. She hasn’t been seen in England, near her other grandparents. No one saw her leave the country.”
“Then where is she?” he growled.
“Someone did see her entering a hotel with three other people,” said another man walking into the room. Hilal looked up, waiting for the man to continue. “The woman is a hostage negotiator. She was working on the release of those that escaped us earlier. This man, the big one at the front, was part of the hostage group. We think he’s a former American military man. The blonde man, is a Navy SEAL.”
“Where were they? What did they see?” he asked in a panicked tone.
“We’re not sure yet. They entered the hotel, we sent men in to get them and somehow they got away. We think they stole a truck at this construction site. It was found at the bottom of a ravine but there were no bodies.”
“Then she’s left the country,” he frowned. “It’s walking distance to the border and the Americans would know that. She’s finally left and I doubt we can get her back here.”
“We could take the grandparents,” said one of the men.
“And put us all at risk? No! To get them out of England would be impossible. Even I admit that. We’ll have to do this without her. Find someone that has a rudimentary knowledge of medicine. We’re bound to have men become injured.”
“Should we continue to search for her?” asked the man.
“No. Don’t waste your time. She’ll pop up somewhere and I’ll get my revenge. She’ll regret ever leaving my side.”
The men left him as he sat before the fire, sipping his tea. An ungrateful bitch. His own granddaughter didn’t appreciate how much effort he’d spent in grooming her. She was given an education, an advanced education to help her country and she left them!
It only reminded him of his own son’s betrayal when he tried to get them to help him. They had enough knowledge to support the cause before him. But they refused. Over and over again. When their daughter was born, he had his pawn.
That’s when they made a fatal mistake. They packed their belongings and headed to the border. Of course, they underestimated how far his reach was. His men found them, brought them back and he tortured them for days, trying to get them to agree to cooperation. Even when he threatened the life of their daughter, they refused.
“I’d rather my daughter die honorably, than work for a madman, a tyrant,” said his son.
“So be it.”
He’d been surprised at his son and daughter-in-law’s willingness to let him kill their only child. But in the end, he had better plans for her. He would mold her, force her to view the world as he did. There would be no Oxford education.
Instead, he believed that by sending her to America she might provide valuable information for him and still return home and be of service. He didn’t count on her stubbornness and deep seeded desire to be humane and kind to anyone in need.
