After two hours, a doctor finally comes out.

“Family of Levi Anderson?” the doctor asks.

We all stand up.

“Levi’s doing well. The bullet entered under his arm, luckily missing his lungs. We got the bullet out and cleaned the wound. I read that he was in a plane crash recently, so we’ll keep him a day or two, I want to make sure his other injuries don’t flare up. You’ll be able to see him in an hour or so. But I can take one of you back now.”

“You go, Felicity. We’ll wait here,” Leighton says to me.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. You’re the one he’ll want to see when he wakes up. Tell him we love him and to hurry up and get his ass in a room so we can come see him.” She smiles at me.

I hug both of them and follow the doctor to Levi. I hate seeing him in that hospital bed again. I sit in the chair next to his bed.

“No more hospitals,” I say to him as I hold his hand.

“Okay,” he whispers to me.

I stand up and kiss him.

“At least you didn’t make me wait too long this time,” I tease him.

“Are you okay?” he asks me.

“I’m fine. Everyone’s in the waiting room, they have to wait until you get a room to come see you.”

“What about the polar bear that went down? Is he okay?”

“Leonardo said that Zeus will be okay. But the rest of his family is on their way now.”

“And my parents?”

“I don’t know where they are right now. But I know nothing will happen until you’re out of here.”

Levi nods and closes his eyes. I sit with him and watch him.

“I love you,” I whisper.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Levi

This time I was lucky and was only in the hospital for two days. Plus, I think Giovanna told my doctor that she’d make sure I didn’t do anything stupid. So today I’ll be discharged. Leonardo said they took all five of the assholes that took Felicity back to Lake Renegade. We’re spending one more day here in Wintervale and then heading home to Lake Renegade. I’m kind of nervous about facing my parents. There’s a part of me that wishes they had just stayed away. Facing the fact that my mother didn’t even hesitate when she shot me…that’s the part that’s messing with me the most. The look in her eyes was chilling, and it’s the last thing I saw before I blacked out.

“Hi, handsome.” Felicity smiles as she walks into the room.

“Hi, gorgeous,” I say as I kiss her.

“Gia said you’re going to get out today. And you’re not allowed to do anything strenuous.”

I sigh dramatically. I hate how much sitting around I’ve done lately. Felicity frowns at me.

“Are you coming to Lake Renegade with me?” I ask her.

“I didn’t know if you wanted me to.”

I pull her closer to me.
