“Then yes, I’m coming to Lake Renegade with you,” she says as I kiss her.
Giovanna finally comes back with my release papers.
“Oorah!” I cheer.
I almost said finally, but I’m not going to chance pissing Giovanna off. The last time Tristan did that, she didn’t talk to him for four days, total. I don’t have four days to wait.
“So a few of the family came out here, since most of the guys that were here had to head home. Now we have Ares, Panagiotis, Artemis, Luciana and Celestino. And Zio Leonardo, Valentino, Noah and Eros stayed. My papà said even if we have all five of them, he doesn’t want anyone taking chances. There could be more of them. Oh, and Zeus is doing better. The bullet punctured his lung, which is why he couldn’t get back up.”
“That’s a relief, I kept waiting for him to get up and when he didn’t—has your papà talked to any of them yet?” I ask.
“No. He said he would wait for you to get back to Lake Renegade. You deserve to be there for all of it.”
“Thank you. And thank you for all of this, I know you’d rather be home with Declan.”
Declan had to get back home to play hockey. If I hadn’t been shot, we’d all be back there watching him.
“Don’t you worry about that. Declan knows I’m with him even when I’m not there physically. Sometimes there’s things we have to do and this is one of them.”
Growing up with the parents I did, if it wasn’t for my sisters, I don’t want to imagine what I would be doing now. My sisters saved me and made sure I knew I was loved and protected.And now I’d do anything to protect them. So having our Lake Renegade family is amazing. Parents who truly love their children is something I love watching. And I can’t wait to show my own children that same love.
We spent the night with Felicity’s family, I feel like her brothers are finally warming up to me. Thank god.
“Do you need us to come with you back to Lake Renegade?” Lukas asks.
“If you’d like to, sure. I don’t know how it’s going to go. I just know that we’ll be able to talk them about why they did this. And I hope they give us some answers,” I say to him.
All of a sudden, there’s a scream and a loud crash. The kids come running into the living room.
“We didn’t do it!” Kaito says as he jumps in Rhett’s lap.
Miyuki comes running in holding Rowan’s hand.
“Didn’t do what?” Emiko frowns as we all get up.
What we see in the kitchen is something I’ll never forget…
Celestino is laughing so hard he’s on the floor gasping for air. There are two polar bears, one’s in the kitchen and is stuck in the hole that used to have a sliding glass door in it. I’m pretty sure he’s stuck, and you can’t see anything but his ass. And when I look out the kitchen window, the other one is outside, rolling around wheezing. Which is what they sound like when they laugh.
“What in the fuck happened?” Zio Leonardo sighs at them.
Celestino’s trying to talk, but he’s laughing so hard he can’t.
“I’m pretty sure you’re going to pass out if you don’t breathe.” Luciana rolls her eyes at her brother.
“Oh he’s definitely going to pass out.” Giovanna laughs.
“So…what the fuck?” Zio Leonardo asks.
“Well. Ares and Eros were going to go outside and play with the kids. And they figured they would have more fun playing with polar bears. We had the kids cover their eyes, you know,since they were naked. Then Eros went outside to shift, and as he was shifting, Ares was getting ready, and then Eros farted. Miyuki screamed and scared Ares, who shifted and got stuck in the door,” Noah tells us as he’s laughing.
“Why did you scream?” Emma asks Miyuki as she’s trying not to laugh.
“Cause I heard Eros fart. It scared me, I didn’t mean to scream,” she answers.
That makes everyone start laughing. Ares is huffing in the door frame. And we can hear Eros still wheezing outside.
