CHAPTER FOUR

 Levi

“This is Captain Shane, we’re having some mechanical issues. Your oxygen masks will be deploying, please put them on and brace for impact.”

I don’t like the sound of panic in our captain’s voice. I look at Tristan as the masks drop from the ceiling above us. All I can think about is my Felicity. I don’t pray often, but I find myself asking God to please let me see my girl again. And if I get the chance, I’m going to make sure she knows how much I love her. I’m an asshole for not telling her sooner.

Suddenly, the plane drops and everyone is yelling and screaming. The next thing I know, I’m waking up and looking around. Holy fuck, I’m alive…at least I think I am. I look next to me where Tristan’s supposed to be and he’s not there. I hear some people crying and calling for help. I get up slowly and start looking for Tristan, helping whoever I can along the way. I finally find him and I feel for a pulse. Thank god, I find one. I can hear sirens in the distance. They sound a little weird andmy vision keeps going in and out. My head is pounding, but I keep pushing, trying to get Tristan to wake up and seeing who’s around that needs help.

I help a few of the passengers get out of their seats.

“Levi,” I hear Tristan call out.

I run over to where I left him. “Thank god you’re awake.”

 “Holy shit. Did everyone survive?”

I shake my head no. There were quite a few people that I found that didn’t make it. The sirens are getting louder.

 “You need to sit down.”

“But there’s more people that need help.” I frown at him.

 “Levi, you’re hurt.”

“I’m fine,” I say as everything starts spinning on me and I drop to my knees. And everything goes dark.

 Felicity

I finally get my feet under me as we’re walking to the plane. Enea Mancini sent their private plane to come and get us. I had heard Rhett talking to him, he was saying that we could take a commercial flight. But here we are getting on their jet. So I’m guessing he lost that battle. He should probably know better than to argue with Enea.

All I can think about is how much I love Levi. I’ve never told him that I love him. I’ve been a chickenshit about telling him. I worried that I would scare him away. And now I may have lost him. I stare out the window and pray that he’s okay.

“How long is our flight? Have you heard anything yet?” I sniffle at my brothers.

“We have a two-and-a-half-hour flight. And no, nothing yet. I don’t think we’ll hear anything until we land,” Paxton says to me.

“Do you think Levi’s alive?” I whisper to Pax.

He looks at me for a minute. “Yes. I do think he’s alive. And no matter what happened, we’re going to help you both get through this.”

“Thank you. I love him, Pax. I know you’re going to tell me I’m too young or I haven’t spent enough?—”

“I’m not going to say that to you, Lissy. When I met Piper? I knew the moment I saw her that she was the one for me. I understand how you feel. You need to understand that the reason we’ve all been worried for you is because you’re our baby sister. We’re supposed to protect you from bad things that could happen to you. No matter what they are. And we don’t know Levi like you do. But I promise you that we’ll all get to know him better now.”

“Pinky promise?” I say as I put my pinky out.

“Pinky promise. I love you, Lissy. Mom and Dad would be so proud of you.”

I lean over and hug my brother. They’re the reason I’ve never felt alone after we lost our parents. They all made sure that I knew I was loved and protected. Even now, when I know that they’re having issues with my relationship with Levi, they’re still making sure I’m okay. They even closed down our store to come with me. There’s usually only one day a year that we close the store. The day we celebrate our parents.

This plane ride is taking forever. I just want to know if Levi’s okay. I watch Lukas answer his phone. Whoever he’s talking to is telling him something serious, and he’s nodding. He comes over to me after he hangs up.

“Giacomo said he and Salvatore are almost to the crash site. Salvatore talked to the police department and was able to get permission to go there. The rest of them are at the hotel waiting to find out what hospital Levi and Tristan will be taken to. When we land, Celestino and Armando will be waiting for us.”

 “So they’re okay?” I sniffle.

“We don’t know. But he said to stay with Celestino. He and Armando will be with us until we either go back home or to Lake Renegade,” Lukas tells me as he hugs me.
