“Come. Let’s go in. Vee should be quiet since everyone is probably sleeping,” she states quietly, walking up the steps to the door while attendants take and whisk our bag away.Hell yeah. This is the life.
When we get up to the door, I’m shook as hell to see butlers waiting for us with warm towels and…
“ALIK!” I whisper yell, jumping into his arms, excited to see him.
“Connie!” He hugs me tight. “Hov have you been? I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” I pull back, looking him in the eye, heart sputtering a bit. “Why don’t you ever come visit us in the states?” I beam up at him and he chuckles, grabbing my chin, forcing me to look up at him.
“Because I have business here unfortunately,” he answers as he looks me over. “You look good.”
“Of course I do. It’s because I take my vitamins.” I grin, striking a pose and he covers his mouth, slightly snickering.
“Vell, zhey have done ze body good, clearly.” He ticks up a brow and I giggle.
“Clearly,” I smirk and Pyper clears her throat.
“Vhat am I, chopped liver?” We look back and see Pyper standing there, hand on her hip, and I mouth an O.
“Sorry, friend. I was just catching up.”
“Da, and I see you often. I vanted to talk vit Connie.” Alik pats his sister’s shoulder and I laugh, feeling good that the gang is back together, but she waves us away.
“Vhatever, vhatever. I vill just let you two love birds catch up,” she huffs, smirking at me, and I do my best not to cringe at that.
Alik and I were definitely once love birds. I loved this man down, but… I unfortunately just don’t see him like that anymore, despite there being a lot of common ground between us. However, somewhere along the way we just didn’t fit. It felt like fragmented pieces between us.
“Da, go rest, Pyper. I’ll take Connie up to her room.” Alik waves her off and the staff bow as they take the towels we used to wipe our hands.
“Come, Connie. I’ll take you to your room.” Alik places his hand on the small of my back, leading the way.
As he leads me through the house, I catch a few glimpses here and there and all I can say is, rich people are built really damn different… this is the type of carrying on I like, and I just cannot wait to lay up and kick my feet up while they handle their business in the background of my retreat.
“Here is your room, Connie.” Alik opens the door and I’m floored.
The space is massive, light spilling in from tall windows draped with velvet, everything looking way too fancy for someone like me. I glance around, taking it all in, from the plush bed, the soft golden glow of the lamps, the way the air feels fresher here, even a faint scent of lavender.
My things have already been brought up, neatly arranged, and before I can say anything, a woman in a crisp uniform steps in.
“Zhis is Ann,” Alik introduces her. “She vill be your personal attendant. Please make sure to use her if you need anyzhing. You are a guest and she vill treat you vit the standing of zhis house.”
Damn… the standing of this house? What does that even mean? I don’t know, but I like it!
“Good evening, miss. I have prepared a light snack for you. Please tell me if you need anyzhing else I can be of assistance vit.” She curtsies, and I want to twirl.
“Thank you, Alik. This is amazing.”
“No need, Connie. I’m just glad you’re here, even if I vill not have much time to spend vit you.” He reaches out for my hands once more, and I feel the overwhelming warmth of his hand. His eyes flash for a second that has me flinching.God, him and Pyper have always had weird eyes.
“Yeah, I’m glad to be here as well, I’m good with whatever time you can loan me.” I wink and his cheeks light up.He’s so damn adorable.
“Ann, I’m going to bed. Make sure you see to Connie vit no fault or incident,” he growls and I’m almost taken aback because I’ve never heard Alik sound so serious.
“By your command, Master Alik,” she responds before she turns to me.
“Connie, I’m going to get some rest. You do ze same. Vhen vee get up, Pyper and I can unfortunately introduce you to ze family,” he sighs, and I smile.
“Good night.” I wave to him, waiting a beat before I turn to Ann, but she’s already got her face scrunched up, aura completely different from how she was when Alik was here.
