“Oh… vell...” She blushes, and her sexy, fierce face shifts to look cute and adorable. “It’s nozhing grand. My mozher married his uncle, and zhen vee vere introduced…” I can see her heart rate pick up and my lips form an O.
“And I heard Dimitri was Misha’s best friend?” I ask just as the doors open up and we turn to see Dimitri standing right there.
“I heard my name?” He smirks, closing the door, striding over to kiss Nadya then sitting opposite of her.
“Pechenye vas asking hov vee are uhm… related,” Nadya states and Dimitri cocks his head.
“Oh fun. Vhat do you vant to know?”
“Everything,” I pause with a hum. “How did meet Misha and Nadya?”
“Misha and I had ze same private teacher. Vee have been best friends since ze first day… after Nadya’s parents married into his family, he introduced me to her. She vas so beautiful zhat I had no choice but to fall in love vit her.” And from the way he looks at her, I believe him.
“Aww, how sweet,” I giggle.
“And what about you? How did you meet Alik and Pyper?” Dimitri asks, sitting up and my heart does summersaults.
“Pyper and I met through a mutual friend and she introduced me to Alik… w-we dated seriously for a while…” I trail off and I see Alik grit his teeth.
“And vhat happened?”
“Well…” I look away, suddenly not hungry. “I… I guess the feelings just faded. Alik said we should break up, and I agreed. N-not soon after, he moved back to Russia, but as you can see, we’re still besties.” I smile awkwardly as Alik shifts uncomfortably.
“Connie, I?—”
“It was mutual, Alik. There’s nothing to talk about,” I cut him off, something in me feeling bitter even though I agreed to the breakup and truly felt like things had to end. I never once thought twice about it until now because he up and left, but now sitting with him…The four of us settle into a uniform, uncomfortable silence that has tensions rising, pulsing in the quiet room. I glance up at him, growing more pissed every passing second.
But when the double doors swing open again, with an air of complete authority,Mikhailstands in the doorway, his massive frame silhouetted against the hall light. His eyes are clear and focused as he strides in without a word, and the entire atmosphere of the room shifts from tension-filled toelectric.
“Pecheny—” I don’t even let him get a word out. I leave the chair and unconsciously jump into his arms. He catches me with ease, hugging me tight, heart pounding so hard that tears well up in my eyes, but I hide them, because I don’t even fucking know why I’m crying…I just feel like I’m suddenly dying inside.
“I’m going…” I hear Alik voice sputter over my shoulder and I want to look at him and tell him to stay… to talk to me, but I don’t. I just hug Misha tighter and when that door shuts, whatever string is in my heart pulls so tight, almost snapping to the point I wrack out a sob.
“Shh, I got you, Pechenye… we got you,” Misha murmurs in my ear and speaks gentle words until I fall sleep.
I want is to stay right here, tangled up with them… Misha, Alik, Nadya, and Dimitri… I want to… I want to… God I really want to.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
CONSTANCE
“Connie… I love you so much.” I hear behind the door and my heartbeat falters as tears well in my eyes. I shake with fear. It’s been a month since I ran away and locked myself in my house… a month of just eating, sleeping, and surviving. “Connie… Connie… Connie… open the door! Open the door, baby! Open the door! Just open the fucking door! I love you! I love you!” BAM! “Open the fucking d?—”
I jolt up out of my sleep, shaking and sweating, my pulse a frantic, deafening drumbeat that pounds behind my eyes. The metallic taste of adrenaline coats my tongue. I smooth my hand over my face, wiping the cold terror from my skin and setting it back down on the bed. I glance down to see Misha still sleeping, his massive arm draped over my waist like a powerful, warm shackle.
Seeing him makes me smile even through that fucking dream…ugh…I don’t even want to think about it. Literally some of the darkest times of my life, and I just want to forget it. I didn’t come here to harp on my past or remember it. In fact, I came todo the opposite,so why the fuck is that man showing up in my nightmares now?
Sighing, I flop back into the bed, biting my lip, wincing. My body is pleasantly heavy and sore, a tangible reminder that I was thoroughly fucked by all three of them the night prior just to make me feel better, and boy oh fucking boy has it been one hell of a pick me up.
Honestly, I’d happily have those fucking nightmares knowing that bastard is nowhere near my reality and when I wake up I’m getting spoiled fucking rotten and woken up by a tongue shoved up my pussy and getting railed by two fine-ass men in a fuck fest in the middle of the night.
I’ll take fucked-up nightmares for two hundred, Alex.
I turn on my side, watching Misha, who’s still laid out, but I’m not surprised. All three of our asses wore him the fuck out last night, so I don’t bother waking him up.Big man needs some sleep.
Is life real right now?Is there really a man who can handle me so effortlessly, slang pipe that damn good, andis rich? I narrow my eyes at him, poking his cheek, wondering if I’m dreaming. Almost wish I was, considering I don’t particularly want to be in love since both attempts I’ve ever made ended up dying out or disastrous.
“Are you going to continue to stare at me, Pechenye? I’m getting shy,” Misha mumbles, eyes still closed. I duck my head under the covers, embarrassed that he caught me.Ughhh!
