She giggles. “You just had lunch with me not two hours ago.”

“And it wasn’t enough. Come out tonight. We’re going to the football house for a party.”

I hear her shuffling around on the other end of the phone. “I don’t know, I have a lot of studying to do. You’ve taken up a lot of my time this week, Mr. Casanova and now I have to catch up.”

I groan inwardly, enjoying the authority she hands over to me by using my surname. “Come on, CJ, I need to see you.”

“You’re the only one who calls me CJ, you know that?”

“Good, I like having something that’s just mine, Peaches.” I say it in a low tone, and I can’t believe after one week, we’ve already got nicknames.

“Adammm,” she growls back. Then huffs out a breath. “Fine. But only for an hour. Two, max! I have a lot to do, and I need to keep my GPA up or I lose my scholarship.”

I fist pump the air and get an eye roll from Jackson. “I won’t let you fall, CJ.” And I mean that in every possible way. “I’ll pick you up in an hour. Wear something tight.” She giggles again and hangs up.

“You got it bad for this girl, bro. It’s only been a week! She got a magic pussy or what?”

“Don’t talk about her like that.” My tone of voice is threatening, and he knows I’m not playing.

“Adam, relax, I’m just messing around.” He studies me for a moment. “I’ve never seen you like this. Just be careful man, a fire started too soon doesn’t stay lit.”

“You wouldn’t understand, Gage.” He eyes me with a look like he’s got something to say, then thinks better of it. “All I know is I’ve never felt this way, this fast. It’s different. It means something.” Brushing him off, I grab my wallet and keys and head out the door.

Chapter Six

CHELSEA

Sophomore year of college—Fourteen years ago

“Addy, I want you to meet him. He’s amazing and kind and funny and sexy as sin.”

“Did ya do him yet?”

“Addy! You know I don’t kiss and tell!”

“That’s because you don’t have anything to tell!”

“Stop it! I do, too. Nathan and I went all the way.”

“Says every lame ass girl from a 1980’s horror movie. All the way, sis? You know I’m writing your ridiculous cheesy lines into every one of my stories. You’re going to be that vanilla girl who finally gets railed and loves it.”

“Jesus, Adley!”

“Whatever. I’m right. And by the sound of this Mr. Casanova, I’m hoping he’s the one to do it.”

I can picture her rolling her eyes at me over the phone and I need to rein her in. “Anyway, he’ll be here soon, we’re goingto a party. But I want you to come out and visit soon. I'm not going to come home for break, so I’d like you to come here.”

Knock, knock.

“Oh, he’s here! I gotta go, I’ll call you tomorrow. Love you!”

I quickly check my lipstick in the mirror, straighten my shirt and open the door. He’s stunning, looking back at me with a smirk on his face as his eyes drift up and down my body like a caress. He reaches out, grabs my hand and pulls me close, wrapping me in a hug and places a kiss on the side of my temple. I feel safe wrapped in his arms. He smells manly, freshly showered. No cologne, it’s just him.

“No Jackson tonight?” I ask as I lock the door behind me and follow him down the hall.

“He was picking up a couple friends first then meeting us there.” He walks me down the stairs, with his hand on the small of my back. Every touch is turning me on like never before. I don’t know if it was listening to Adley call me vanilla or the reminder that the few guys I have been with were lackluster at best, but I need a guy like she writes about. I guess that’s why they call it fiction.

Adam walks me to his big pickup truck and helps me in by putting his hands on my hips and lifting me up. I go to reach for the door but he’s right next to me, still with his hands on my hips, twisting me to meet him head on.
