It took me back to Mya’s attempt at mimicking him during the ride from the airport. From what I could hear, she was spot on.

The smell of coffee wafting from down the hall pulled my attention from them as I tried to block the sound out. The thought of drinking coffee made me giddy. Quietly I eased my way to the edge and slipped out of bed. I went to the bathroom and ran the faucet in the tub. Lily sauntered into the bathroom, sat on the toilet and started to pee. She looked fucking cute even on the toilet. I crouched and tried to kiss her, but she placed her hand on my cheek and pushed me away.

“Don’t. Morning breath,” she husked.

“Me or you?”

“Both.”

“Well, then that’s okay. Come here.” I plucked her off the toilet gathering her in my arms, kissed her while I carried her to the tub.

“Alfie, I haven’t wiped yet.”

“You reek of sex, and you look like you’ve been banged all night. You think a wad of toilet paper is going to fix that? Fuck, Lily, from the way I came inside you last night nothing short of a bath and a good scrub is going restore that sweet little pussy this morning,” I stated, plonking her into the deep tub filled with bubbles. She groaned in appreciation, but her brow was still bunched.

“You’re vile, you pig.”

“And you love me. Now move over so I can get in there beside you.”

We both sat quietly, adding hot water when it cooled and letting some out to make room for the warm water. It was ten in the morning before we finally made it out to the living room for breakfast. No one else was around. Jack and Mya hadn’t surfaced, nor had anyone else come over to the cabin. Lily poured some orange juice and put together a plate of the warm pastries Dita had left for us.

Curling up beside me on the sofa, Lily and I shared more quiet time just eating and watching the roaring fire as the logs burned through the window of the burner. Quiet time was so rare because our worlds were filled with music and noise, crowds and chaos. Twenty minutes later, someone banged on the cabin door. Lily went to open it and Rick, Len and Emma trotted in shivering with the cold.

“Where’s Cody?” Lily asked, probably because Len and Cody seemed to be joined at the hip and went everywhere together.

“Ill. Hangover sick,” Len replied.

“Fucking lightweights,” Rick commented and laughed before grabbing a croissant and stuffing it whole, into his mouth.

“I have a suggestion,” Rick mumbled around his full mouth and without waiting for us to question it he continued.

“We go home tonight instead of tomorrow morning.”

Jack walked into the room with more marks on his neck and the beginnings of a beard, “I second that. As much as I love spending time with you guys I have responsibilities I need to get back to. The longer I’m away, the more they’re piling up. Leaving tonight would give me the whole day tomorrow to do stuff. Also, you know what that M4 is like from Heathrow to London, it’s a bitch at times.”

Glancing at Lily I wondered how she felt about everyone not staying for the last night but she smiled at Jack and nodded.

“I’m easy. I’d love to spend the day with my parents tomorrow as well. I’ve hardly seen them this year, and it would be a nice surprise for us to just turn up unexpectedly, Alfie. I never get to do that with all our touring schedules and studio time.”

I’d achieved what I’d set out to accomplish. Giving Lily much needed time with her friends, and now she was content to leave them again.

When I set out to plan the trip, there were no ulterior motives. I just wanted to see her happy. When Mya suggested we share a cabin, it allowed me to see the relationship Lily and Jack had now. I hadn’t expected to learn everything I had, and unexpectedly, I faced a few of my demons during our time away. The biggest lesson for me was learning how Lily feels. I’d been so busy watching the guys interact with her when I should have been thinking of her reaction to them. I had to respect that she’s the driver, not the guys, and I was more secure in how she feels about our future.

Henry and the other security guys packed our belongings and Lily and I had a short stroll in the snow. We met up with the others and had our last lunch at a small restaurant on the mountain. The views were stunning when we had a rare ‘blue moment’ of sunshine that lasted all of three minutes. For the rest of the day the resort was cloaked in the same grey winter twilight that was evident during daylight hours.

Dave suggested one last run on the slopes, so everyone gathered their gear and we headed over. Rick and I decided to sit it out and wrapped our hands around a steaming hot cup of coffee instead. We’d figured out that if we kept our hats and shades on no one recognized us. Lily kissed me then walked away stiff-legged in her ski boots to catch up with the others. Even Len and Cody went with them. Rick stared as Lily walked away, and I caught him watching her.

“She’s fucking awesome, Alfie.”

“She is.”

“You are one lucky bastard.”

“Yep.”

“You’re never gonna fuck her over are you?”

“Nope.”
