‘Inmycasinos,’ without his will, Brax unraveled Mr. Clyborne’s secret.

‘No. He made some investment into some congressman’s elections. It will pay off shortly.’ For someone so smart, Cole was pretty blind when it came to his father.

‘Brax is right,’ I felt he needed to know the truth ‘I overheard him speaking to your mom when I was at your place.’

My confession didn’t seem to agree with Cole, demolishing the image he had of his father. Butluckilyfor him, he had someone to vent his anger on ‘When, Mouse? After that time in the bathroom when you couldn’t resist me even for seven minutes? Or the night you remained to sleep in my bed?’

I had made him feel uncomfortable. Now it was his turn to turn the tables. Obviously, it worked since my face was blushed to fiery red, silently praying that he wouldn’t go on. In an instant, he was towering over me, consuming all the oxygen in the room, leaving me with a blank stare to foolishly gaze at him. I had no idea what he was about to do, but nothing good could come out of his approach.

‘You like eavesdropping,’ he groaned, pushing my hair aside to reveal my neckline. The gaze of a hungry vampire was upon me, as he let his lips fall next to my ear. ‘Just wait till I get my hands on you,’ he whispered in what could be an amusing threat, but coming from him, I knew it had every chance to be real.

Disregarding the other men’s presence, his tongue glided over my neckline, spreading a chill coil from the place he touched to the depths of my being. The sole purpose of his actions was to embarrass me, diminish my presence down to zero, claiming authority over his possession.

To my surprise, the other two kings didn’t show any sign of jealousy, not even Ferris. More like curiosity and a hint of amusement. I wastheirMouse in a game of prey and being hunted. Now I had three Big Bad Cats I had to look out for.

‘Leave the fun for later. Let’s finish this. I need a drink.’ Brax was in a hurry tonumbhis senses again.

At least he made Cole stop.

Stop, but not free me, bringing his hand to sneak over my waist and glue my back against his chest just as I was about to leave.

Brax seemed to have no problem with our closeness, so he continued his idea ‘Let’s put a real crown on your head.’ He looked directly at Ferris.

‘Are you fucking kidding me!? I’ll help you remove him, but I don’t want his place,’ Ferris almost stuttered.

‘Do you know anyone else more appropriate to claim it than you?’ Brax raised an eyebrow, looking across the room.

‘Even the man that mows my lawn is more appropriate than me.’

‘Let’s get Jose on the phone then,’ Cole chuckled, making the sexiest sound when he laughed. Ugh... I hated him for that.

‘It will only be temporary,’ Brax tried to explain ‘You have a strong background and the purest royal blood. The Elite will eat right out of your hand.’

‘What part ofI don’t want to leave the housedidn’t you get?’

‘We only need this as a momentary measure until we take control and change a few laws to be more permissive for the Annelids. Better salaries, better working conditions, better life.’ Brax seemed to agree with my plans for them to rule the city, although I had a feeling it had something to do with more money running through the Pit and into his pockets.

But that made Ferris also take things under consideration ‘Do you think the Elite will accept this?’

‘They won’t have a choice. I’ll stall the rebellion until I have enough manpower to overrule them, should it be required. While the Elite has more financial options, the Annelids are more driven to win.’

‘Could you stop calling us Annelids!?’ I found the term demeaning, and Brax was a specialist when it came todemeaningpeople.

‘I’m an Annelid too, in case you forgot. So, spare me the drama. It’s just a word.’ Brax was stating a true fact, but this didn’t give him the right to talk like a jerk.

‘Let’s get back to the point. I’m going to cover all expenses regarding Cole’s party, and everything that comes up in the meantime as well. Anything you want, just ask.’ Ferris was putting his assets at our disposal.

‘You’re coming with me, Mouse.’ Cole just put me on the guest’s list.

Another party -just what I had wished for...NOT.

‘Can’t wait,’ I muttered trying to break free from his grip, but with no real chances.

‘We’re going to have so much fun together,’ Cole whispered the words, which sounded exactly just the opposite of what he was saying.

‘So, everything is settled. I’ll go talk to a few of the leaders, Ferris is going to try and infiltrate the governor’s trusted core group and Cole... Cole is going to party his way through this.’ Brax was laying out the sketch of what we just discussed, making sure all assignments are getting finalized. ‘Now, give me a fucking glass of Macallan. I’m thirsty.’

Ferris stood up from his armchair to pour Brax a glass of whiskey since it was still difficult for him to walk around.
