Maybe out of madness or desperation, I did the only thing that came to my mind. I raised my lips to claim his, hoping that my newfound obediencewould help him calm down.

That was hardly the case, as he caught on to my game even before it began ‘You’re that desperate, huh!?’ His tone so incredibly fueled by my agony while I felt I was drowning under each gaze pointing at me.

He didn’t let go, how could he!? Just captured my bottom lip against his own, keeping me glued to his face as his fingers were spreading to cup the whole of my breasts. ‘They all want to be you, my Queen B.’

‘Then choose one and leave me the fuck alone.’ I snapped back, finally managing to detach myself from his grip.

I didn’t look back. I didn’t even care who or why anyone was watching anymore. Just walked straight into the courtyard, trying somehow to calm down.

The gym’s brick wall served me as support and cover, as I pressed my body weight against it. My nerves seemed to be stretched to the edge. Not that I cared about public humiliation anymore. I was so much more concerned about Cole’s deviant behavior, about the need to constantly prove himself.

The Herd and everyone else probably saw him as a God. And, in some way, I knew he was right, they also saw me as his queen. Their gazes were full of lust or jealousy, not one repulsed or consternated that he was publicly claiming control of my breasts.

Maybe I was the one messed up, hanging on to some moral values that didn’t even exist. And if I had any doubt that morality was becoming extinct, the man that appeared in front of my eyes convinced me of it.

Thomas just passed me somewhere on the left, probably rushing to classes. Nothing out of the ordinary about that, but judging by the new set of clothes and modern sneakers he had on, Brax had probably paid him a visit at my request.

So much for ideals.

Then it only meant I was the one seeing things wrong. Morality wasn’t a must anymore, and I was learning it the hard way.

It was Seb’s treatment day, so until Ferris’s promise could come through, I still needed to take him to the hospital. That was cutting my Academy day short, and also the time spent with Cole. Not that I was complaining about that.

The day followed its usual routine from then on. Hospital, dinner, then back to Ferris’s place. I needed to know how the governor’s brunch went and it wasn’t something we could talk about over the phone.

Strangely, I heard music as soon as my limo was passing through the Ayer’s estate front gates. Loud music, as if someone was having a party. Though it couldn’t be Ferris, that was for sure.

Following the sound, I discovered it didn’t come from the main house. It was coming from somewhere in the garden. As I approached the spot, I realized something was going on at the guesthouse. All the lights being on and twenty-something cars parked outside were telling me that it was indeed a party.

Cole and Brax couldn’t be too far away since neither of them would miss such an event, especially since I reunited theirdreamteam a while ago. Lucky me.

I felt the instinct to turn and leave the estate. But the chances that I would get a call or a text from one of the kings, even before I reached my place were too high to even bother with an escape plan.

Pushing the door open, I entered the main room, to find my king of EMA lazily laying on a couch with a bottle of vodka in his hand and three bimbos almost throwing themselves at him.

The scene had Cole written all over it— the welcoming scene and the party.

‘What’s going on here?’ I asked since I still found it hard to believe that Ferris agreed to throw a party.

‘What does it look like?’ He asked, casually taking a sip from the bottle while one of his bimbos was laughing at the way he was defying me.

‘It looks like you’re entertaining yourself a little too much,’ I muttered with an annoyance I didn’t want. Yet there it was. Some stupid jealousy of him belonging to me when things couldn’t be further than the truth.

‘You told me earlier to choose one. I just couldn’t decide,’ he shrugged, looking at the three girls that were sitting next to him. I knew he was doing it especially to hurt me, and against my every attempt to prevent it, he was succeeding.

‘Where’s Ferris?’ I continued with unhindered discomfort. I was determined to find out what Ferris did today, then make something up, and leave.

‘Were you looking for me?’ Before Cole got a chance to answer, Ferris’s arms wrapped around my waist from behind while his lips melted on my neckline.

I immediately froze, knowing that Cole was looking straight at us, although he seemed much more excited than jealous.

Then I realized I was the jealous one, watching his hand ostentatiously resting on one of the girl’s thighs as if it was placed there especially for me to see.

I just couldn’t be there any longer, so I whirled to find Ferris’s lips into a kiss. ‘Yes, I was looking for you. Let’s get out of here.’

He didn’t wait for any more requests, and taking my hand, he guided me through a black wooden door into a secondary living room. The place was similar to the rooms at the main house. The same gothic elements. The same mesmerizing fireplace, bringing the space to life with its flames.

With his hands running up and down my dress, Ferris didn’t get the memo that I was looking more for a debriefing than a hookup. I had no idea what got him so turned on so quickly, but I was beginning to think that the vodka taste on his lips had something to do with it.
