Nick

A few hours of sleep and I woke strangely energized.

Like, leap out of bed, energized.

Perhaps the thought of fresh air and a moment out of the house had excited me.

Or it could be the hot bodyguard that you hope is the one that offers to go with you.

Truth,self.

And sure, I got it, the guy didn’t like me. Maybe he just didn’t like anyone. But I felt there was something personal he had against me, which did not help the stupid thoughts that I had about him.

I rolled my eyes at myself.

Like I’d ever act on them, right?

No, I couldn’t.

As I brushed my teeth I told myself that I needed to forget about it. Jameson wasn’t the type of person I needed in my life. Or was it the other way around? Either way, it would never work even if I could truly admit the things that I wouldn’t allow myself to.

After checking the weather, I dressed in running shorts, a light shirt, and my brightly-colored running shoes. Then I nearly bounced down the stairs ready to get this day started.

To my disappointment, Austin was waiting in the kitchen looking ready for a hard workout. He even had a huge bottle of water sitting next to him on the counter.

“You and me?” I asked with a smile that I hoped didn’t look too forced.

Austin was fun so maybe it was better this way. Plus he talked, at least the jog wouldn’t go by silently.

“Oh, no,” he said with a smirk and a shake of his head. “I don’t like the whole running thing. I’m headed to the gym while Jameson takes you out. Lifting, bro, that’s where it’s at. Gotta keep these guns blazing, if you know what I mean.”

I busted out laughing knowing that he was being way ridiculous.

The flex was what made the whole scene.

“Jameson should be down any second now.”

As he said that I heard heavy footfalls on the stairs.

Austin winked at me as he tilted his bottle of water back and took a long sip.

Jameson appeared and I had no idea how Austin didn’t spit that water right out at the sight of his partner.

I blinked at Jameson in shock while my brain practically sparked so badly it fried.

While Atlanta was currently experiencing a bit warmer weather given that it was late winter, I could not believe that Jameson was wearing…those.

“No. Please, no. What are those?” I asked in shock.

Jameson looked down in the direction I was trying my hardest to keep my gaze from drifting to. Then he looked over at Austin with a shrug.

“Running trunks,” Austin supplied with a hint of a smirk, like he was trying not to laugh.

Trunks?

I had underwear that covered more than those things.
