“Cade’s home. He’s not going to want to come out tonight,” Kyle shot back to Reese.

Reese pulled out his phone and began typing. I didn’t know what was going on. Kyle’s phone chirped from his pocket a moment later.

“Group text? Really?” Kyle asked without reaching for his phone.

“Just because their men aren’t out doesn’t mean they can’t come to support the ones that do have men away on business,” Reese said with a raise of his very nicely sculpted brow.

I studied Reese for the first time since meeting him tonight.

He was very nice to look at, I could admit that. And though his face was very expressive, it didn’t bother me like that sort of thing normally would. Then I became lost in my head, wondering why it didn’t bother me. Why I hadn’t felt irritated since I’d walked into Kyle’s apartment and why I wasn’t rushing to leave. Normally, I’d feel out of place and rather retreat to a place I felt I didn’t have to deal with that sort of feeling.

Reese looked at his phone again.

“Theon will be here soon. He says Cade and Silvie are working on some science project she has due for school,” Reese said, still looking at his phone. Silvie was Theon’s sister, and he and Cade had custody of her. From what I heard around the office, Silvie tended to rule the house. Which I’d come to understand meant that she was very loved by her guardians. “But Keith doesn’t want to make the drive into the city tonight.”

“I think you talk to my brother more than I do,” Kyle mumbled, referring to his twin brother, Keith.

“Not true,” Reese said, pointing a finger at him. “You’d know this if you would have just looked at your phone.”

I sat there and simply observed. They argued over where to order food from, finally settling on the Indian place a couple of blocks away. Which they had Theon pick up on his way.

After Theon arrived and everyone seemed to settle in various places around the living room, all eyes turned on me. The food and lemonade that they had wanted so badly seemed to be forgotten about on the coffee table, and I couldn’t understand why I held the attention of the room.

“So, wait,” Theon started. “Not that I’m not happy to see you, but why are you here?” He was looking at me.

“Milo and Remy,” Kyle said, as if that explained anything.

“Remy?” Theon asked with a thoroughly confused face aimed in my direction. I didn’t understand what he was asking. “I thought you hated him.”

“He hates everyone,” Kyle said, but he smiled in my direction, making me think he was teasing me.

“How did I end up here?” I asked. The question had mostly been directed at myself as I tried to work out the point of being here and why I’d agreed to this.

“Okay,” Kyle said, butt wiggling against the couch cushion like he was trying to get comfortable. “I need to know how this Remy and you thing happened. But first, I feel like we need to let you know that what you’re feeling is normal.” Kyle and Theon shared a look. “We go through this whenever our men… go out of town on business.”

“Remy and I aren’t together in a relationship kind of way,” I stated flatly. “He’s… helping me out. So I don’t see how my situation and yours are the same.”

“But you have feelings for him?” Theon asked.

“I don’t mind him so much now,” I told them. “I think I misunderstood where he was coming from and took offense when it wasn’t needed. I suppose you could say that I felt insecure with certain things. Which, I’ve been told, makes me a bit grumpy.” I looked at Kyle as I said this since he’d been the one to point out my grumpiness on quite a few occasions.

“What is going on with you and Remy, then?” Reese asked me.

So, I told them. How he’d stepped in when I hadn’t asked him to. How he’d thought he was saving me from my mother and her pushy marriage plan for me to Blaire Carver. How it ended up backfiring on him, and putting me in a position that I felt stuck in. That Remy was basically living with me for a week. I told them how we’d had a few talks that were pleasant.

“And we’ve made each other come a few times,” I finished with.

They all blinked at me. I had no clue why.

“Can you just admit that you like the man as much as you like his cock?” Reese winked at me after he spoke.

I stopped to think about it. I did like Remy’s cock. It was very nice, and I liked the way it felt in my mouth. Just as much as I liked all the things Remy did to my body. I also liked him as a person.

“He makes me feel seen and heard,” I told them. I didn’t think I’d actually meant to say those words out loud, but there they were. “He makes me feel like I’m a wanted surprise.”

“Cade makes me feel less broken,” Theon said.

“Roland makes my damaged parts feel beautiful,” Kyle said.
