“I did more than kiss.”
“That is true,” he came back with and then hummed happily. “I’ve never had someone eat my ass before. I can definitely say that you did a great job and I’m a fan.” There was a pause. “And your mouth is amazing. We should for sure do all of that again sometime in the future. But not now. I couldn’t possibly—”
“Don’t worry,” I told him. “I couldn’t go again if I tried. You… uh, sucked the energy right out of me. In the best way ever.”
The room fell silent for a few beats. I was halfway to drifting off when he spoke again.
“I don’t want to move,” Milo said. “I have to get to work.”
“Work can wait,” I told him.
He hummed like he was trying to agree with me. I was sure part of him really wanted to.
I was just about to tell him to come up and cuddle with me when my phone rang. All thoughts of taking a little nap with him to recharge went out the window. Just like my relaxed, sated mood.
Fuck.
“Or not,” he mumbled sleepily.
I let out a soft laugh as he moved to let me up.
“Sorry,” I said, though I knew Milo would not only understand, but he’d also never ask me to ignore it.
Which I realized was perfect. Like, if I had arealrelationship with Milo, things would be a little easier because of that. He’d understand my work and wouldn’t ever make me feel bad for putting my job first. Hell, he’d probably be right there beside me going in most of the time.
It was just another thing that made me think about more with Milo, and wish that I could have the courage to tell him how I was feeling. How I was starting to like him a whole fuck of a lot.
I wrangled my phone out of my pocket and quickly answered it before the call was sent to voicemail.
“I know you’re probably on your way, but I wanted to let you know that I had a breakthrough in that case you handed me yesterday,” Kyle said right away. “I called Reed. He wants you to get a team together and head out today. I’ll brief you when you get here.”
“I’m, uh, running a little behind this morning, but I’ll be there soon.” I paused to think about who was available to help out. “Call in Austin and Dune, please. Well, just Dune. Austin’s probably there.”
I swore Austin lived at the office. He had a rental lease on a place, but he seemed like he never stayed there. He even had extra toiletry stuff in one of the bathrooms, and backup toiletry stuff. None of us ever questioned it. And I was starting to wonder if we should.
“Yep,” Kyle replied back. “On it. See you soon.”
Then he was gone. My hand flopped to the bed, phone still in my grasp.
“Up,” Milo said.
“Yeah, yeah,” I shot back as I rolled out of bed.
“Brush your teeth!” he practically yelled at me.
“What?”
“It’s unprofessional to go to work with cum breath,” he told me. He was standing beside the bed now, and I caught the shirt that he tossed through the air at me.
I snorted and shook my head as I pulled the shirt over my torso.
“I’ll brush my teeth,” I told him, already heading for the bathroom.
He rushed in behind me, and then we were there, both of us staring at the other in the mirror as we brushed the cum breath away, standing side by side. Honestly, it felt rather domestic. I didn’t hate it, but I wasn’t about to point it out.
After we were done, I planted a kiss on his lips.
His shocked, wide eyes had me chucking under my breath.
