“But I don’t know how to talk about it,” he said. His gaze bounced from Cat to me, then back again.
Cat inhaled sharply as he dashed forward. One knee went to the bed as he leaned over Cat. She was frozen stiff in my arms as she blinked up at him. His hand slid into the back of her hair, but he didn’t pull or grab on.
“Is this okay?” he asked, his lips, shiny and wet from where his tongue had dragged over them, nearly touching hers.
I still didn’t know where this was going, but I wasn’t going to take this away from Cat if she wanted it.
“Uh…” she croaked out. “I don’t think I feel comfortable…”
“Okay, fine,” Chry said, turning his eyes on me. He didn’t release her hair as he leaned closer to me.
My skin was buzzing with awareness. My brain was quickly catching on to what it was that he had been attempting to work out, to get at.
“This okay?” he asked me.
“Oh,” Cat said on a small gasp.
Glancing to the side, I tried to gauge Cat’s reaction. Her cheeks were pink. Her chest was rising and falling heavily. Her eyes were wide with curiosity.
But I didn’t see fear. I didn’t see sadness. I didn’t see jealousy.
So, I tilted my head as I locked eyes with Chry again, and said, “Yes.”
No sooner had the word left me and his mouth was on mine. The kiss was hard, punishing. Almost desperate. I kissed him back the same.
I tore myself away from him, holding his gaze for a long moment as I slid my hand around the back of his neck. There was a question in his eyes.
To which I answered,yes.
“Cat,” he whispered as he moved back to her.
“Okay,” she said breathlessly.
His lips slowly descended on hers. Their kiss was slower. Newer. Tender and almost careful.
Warmth bloomed in my chest.
Something clicked in my soul and it felt right.
“I-I don’t…” Cat said as Chry pulled slowly away from her mouth. Her hand was on her chest, fisting the fabric right over her heart. A move I didn’t think she was aware of.
She looked so sweet and a little clueless as she blinked up at him completely dazed.
Leaning in, I placed a kiss against her temple and held her tighter.
“Oh…” she said softly. “Oh!” And again, only louder and stronger. “Uh. That is… this is… are you…” She took in a quick breath, still seeming to be at a loss for words. “Oh, gosh, I’m all flustered.”
Chry and I let out matching soft chuckles.
I stayed silent, not wanting to sway her thoughts in any way. I needed to hear what she was feeling about what just happened, and what could possibly happen from here on out.
“I’m going to need more,” she said, lids blinking rapidly. “Is this something you’ve talked about?”
“No,” Chry and I answered at the same time. We shared a smile at how ridiculous we were.
“But, you’ve thought of it before?” she asked, voice a little higher than normal.
Chry looked to me.
