She laughed. “And how do you plan to do that? No one knows you’re here, and by the time they figure it out, you’ll be dead. Nobody is going to stand in my way. I always get what I want.”

 “Does he know?”

There was no way my father knew she had a hand in killing my mother. He couldn’t know.

She just smiled. “Does it matter?”

 “Yes!”

She laughed. “Of course he does,” she answered, like I was stupid for not knowing the truth. “We’ve wanted to be together for a long time, but your mother and you were always in the way.”

I shook my head. The amount of rage coursing through my body was unreal. “You’re not going to get away with this.”

“And who’s going to stop us?” Her shrill laughter pierced the air. “Your biker? He’s not coming for you either.”

Before I responded, her phone rang. She pulled it from the back pocket of her jeans. She smiled when she looked at the screen, then turned the phone towards me so I could see who was calling before she answered.

“Hey honey,” she said in that sweet sugary voice she used only with him. It made me want to vomit. “I was just talking about you.”

 “Daddy!” I screamed. “Help me!”

I didn’t know why the hell I was asking him for help. He wanted me dead.

She looked at me and smirked. “What about the biker?”

She smiled and nodded. “I’m glad you took care of him. We can’t have any more mishaps.”

I thought I was scared before, but I didn’t want to bring any more problems to Eros because he had done nothing other than try to help me.

“What did you do!” I screamed.

“I’ll see you in a few minutes, and we can be done with all this,” she said. “Love you.”

When she ended the call, she slid the phone back into her pocket. “Roger is on the way. Then we can get this over with. I’m tired of dealing with you.”

“You’re a piece of shit,” I sneered. “You won’t get away with this if it’s the last thing I do.”

 “We already have.”

With no more words, she walked out of the room. There was no way I could stay here. My father wasn’t going to save me. And something happened to Eros. I only had myself to rely on. I only had a few minutes to come up with some kind of plan.

 Chapter Twenty-Two

 Eros

Ihadn’tevenbeeninside the clubhouse five minutes before all hell broke loose. Flash bangs went off, doors were kicked in, shit was thrown everywhere while law enforcement beat our asses. Then everyone was put in cuffs. Of course, I knew this was about Janea.

Now, most of us were sitting behind bars, waiting for a chance to see the judge so we could post bond, but I got the feeling we would be here a lot longer than we should be. They hadn’t even told us why the hell we were here. But I told Lydia to contact an attorney to get us the hell out of here as soon as possible.

I hate being in tight spaces, and it was irritating me.

“What the fuck is going on?” Knox’s voice echoed as he pushed his arms through the cold, metal bars of the cell across from me. He and I were the only ones in this section. I had no idea where everyone else was at. “Our guys should have picked up on this,” he said.

I could hear the frustration in his voice. And it was something we would look into after all this shit was over. But I wasn’t sure they could have done anything, especially when power and money were involved.

Our guys within the police department normally would have told us we were going to be raided. And on any other occasion, I would have expected them to do just that, but I couldn’t put all the blame on them for this one. This was definitely the power of the Lt. Governor. The locals were probably informed after the Feds were brought in.

I stuck my arms through the cell bars and rested my forehead against the cold, hard steel, sighing as the weight of the day settled on my shoulders. “It has to have something to do with Janea. I’m sure our guys would have given us a heads up if they could have.”
