FIFTY-EIGHT

ALLIE

LEVI & ALLIE

Once back in the bride’s room I jumped into the beautiful deep red bridesmaid dress that was strapless and sucked me in in all the right places. The hair stylist did my hair in a half up-do, and I applied my lip gloss while I swear to God I floated through the air. For the first time in years, I was light as a feather.

What circumstances took away all those years ago, Levi had corrected. It would be us again. But better because we knew what it was to be without our other half and that’s what we were together. Whole.

As I made my way to my spot in the front of the church my eyes landed on Levi in the fourth row, and my heart grew three sizes at the grin he wore. My vision blurred for a moment as my heart digested that this was our new beginning.

As the three-string orchestra filled the air with Pachelbel’s Cannon in D, I knew it was now our new song. The one that would always remind me of the handsome man declaring his love for me outside of the church bathroom while standing in a snowbank. Be still my beating heart.

Emily made her way down the aisle, and she was beautiful beyond words in her wedding gown that was chic and classic with a sprinkling of bling. But my gaze kept sneaking back to Levi whose eyes never left me, and my heart sang opera for the first time ever.

It was an absolutely stunning luncheon reception in the beautiful ballroom with spectacular views of the snowy mountains in the distance. The hearty Italian cuisine was the bomb and consisted of yummy lasagna (yes, please), tortellini with bread sticks, and a beautiful chocolate fountain she’d decided on because of little old me. Sigh.

Guests enjoyed the most delectable holiday treats including red and green cake balls, Christmas Trifle, cupcakes with crushed candy canes topping the thick white frosting, and cookies. Thank God the Super Saver Serial Killer didn’t ruin this amazing affair. (Our group did steer clear of the desserts.)

Clint stuck to me like a cheap shower curtain, but my eyes didn’t want to leave Levi. I decided I’d get out of my recent engagement once we got back to the house. Sure, Levi and I might have to disappear into the forest once Will found out, but I didn’t give a rip. They may hate us together, but there was no stopping us this time. Yup, from now on I do a thing called what I want.

The D.J. played some tunes and before I knew it Clint had me on the dance floor. We swayed standing near Royce and Lexi.

“Are you okay?”

I nodded. “Yes, it’s just been a busy few days.”

I looked at Levi with Evan standing at the bar. The second his eyes connected with mine there was electricity. One look. How could one look liquefy me at a glance?

Once Emily and Travis exited in a horse drawn carriage and disappeared down the beautiful Christmas street, our crew said goodbyes and walked down the stairs outside of the reception.

My heart was floating, and I swear to God glitter was pumping through my veins; Levi was free. I was free. So we could be tied up together forever. Sigh.

Our group stopped when we hit the sidewalk.

Will rubbed his hands together. “Well, since we have the afternoon free, should we hit the brewery in town? Online I saw they have a variety of Christmas beers. Spiced ales and winter warmers if anyone’s interested.”

Levi’s dirty grin hit me as his eyes locked with mine. His wink reminded me that I was his.

Clint reached over and grabbed my hand as Rachel pulled on her gloves. “I have ninety-nine problems but I’m going to have some alcohol and ignore every single one.”

Will pointed. “It’s right down the street so we can walk.”

We all strolled down the sidewalk.

“Wait.” It was Levi’s deep voice.

We all stopped, turned, and his grin tickled my tummy.

He nodded as he took a step in my direction. “Allie, marry me.”

A collective gasp came as Kristina started jumping and clapping.

“I love you, Langley. Marry me today.”

Clint released my hand and took a step toward Levi. “What the fuck are you doing?”

I screamed. “I’ll marry you right now!”
