“Are you Pretty Womaning me right now?”
“Bet your ass I am.” He pointed to the dressing room. “Go.”
As I entered the dressing room the memory of him sneaking in my bedroom window and us curling up in my twin sized bed watching Pretty Woman, my favorite old movie, had my heart doing a sexy salsa dance.
EIGHTEEN
LEVI
OH, WHAT A NIGHT
Yeah, I hijacked the boutique, but it had to be done. Well, I suppose the Cheesecake Factory delivery didn’t have to happen, but how could the woman showing me each and every sexy little dress not have the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake?
Did she sneak me into the dressing room and let me select the pink and white lacy bra and matching panties after a mind blowing make out session? That’s a hell yes.
An hour later we strolled out onto the sidewalk with some shopping bags in hand as her soft giggles warmed the crisp air. Then I ran back inside and offered to pay one of the ladies if she’d drop the shopping bags at the house. Money talks.
We walked arm in arm and it truly felt like we were in a movie. But not a Hallmark movie, yeah, after what happened back at the house this was definitely NOT a “G’ rating.
We passed stores and shops decorated with holly and twinkling lights while shoppers milled about. Christmas carols floated in the air and I wondered how we could stay there forever.
She looked up at me. “I can’t believe you did this.”
I kissed her forehead. “Our evening awaits.”
We entered the Summit Bistro and were seated at the table I reserved in a small private dining room. Deep mahogany surrounded us in the room that was lit by a large Christmas tree filled with glimmering lights that sat in the corner, and the candles in the center of our table.
“Oh. My. Gosh.” Allie clapped her hands quietly. “This is beautiful.”
The waitress took our order and closed her little black book as a waiter set our drinks on the table.
I cleared my throat. “Gentlemen, would you mind leaving us, please?”
Allie squealed while the waitress popped a confused brow.
“You’re still Pretty Womaning me! My turn!” She clapped her hands and eyed the waitress. “I’m just using him for sex.” She burst out laughing and we had a glorious high-five as the waitress’s eyes darted about before she exited and pulled the door closed behind her.
I stood, walked to the door and locked it before returning to her and extending my hand. “Dance with me.”
“Did you just lock the door?” She smiled and slid into my arms. “This feels a little naughty right now.”
I looked down at her. “Does it?”
NINETEEN
ALLIE
TEQUILA
I knew the life I had now and the people in it. Was being close to Levi for one day worth the risk? The answer was a hard yes. At least at this particular moment in time.
I couldn’t resist. “You could freeze ice on her ass. Love that one.”
He looked down. “I think you are a very bright, very special person.”
While it was my favorite line from the movie, something about the way he said it caused a pause as we swayed to the soft music.
His eyes were a little darker now, and he was the same kerosene he was when I was eighteen. He could steal my common sense away in an instant. I had been to him what he was to me; together we were dangerous. He instilled a deep fizz that soared through my body shining a spotlight on the weakness that remained after seven years.
