ALLIE

THAT HAPPENED FAST…

Whoa, my mind was holding on tight to the train wreck that seemed to be me coming in hot from the alley out back. I took another cleansing breath that didn’t do shit and decided this was okay. Sure, closure was over, but maybe this was just a quick goodbye. Again. Maybe I’m not a total train wreck?

Then my brain laughed. Toot Toot mother trucker.

Screw you, brain. I’ll just be an out-of-control fun train for a bit. Like one filled with cheeseburgers, sparklers, and glitter. Bottom line, this would be okay.

I don’t know exactly how long we were in the alley, but when I returned to the table Rachel and Lexi were laughing and Kristina had turned into a dancing machine.

While I sipped on a drink I realized it was not mine, gross, but finished it anyway, my mind was still in the alley. I know what I do to you. His words made my stomach sink like a rock.

I needed to stay away from those damn pillow lips because one look turns me into a kitten high on cat nip.

Pull your shit together!

I kept my eyeballs toward the thrusting fireman who just lost his trousers on the stage, BTW, and wished I wasn’t as tipsy as I was. I needed to not see Levi’s glorious eyes that had the ability to steal my words and make my clothes fall off.

I stood up at the same moment a woman with platinum blond hair was throwing a drink in the face of the woman to my left, but instead got me. Yes, burning alcohol up my nose and over my hair.

The woman glared at me as if I’d done something wrong as she slurred. “Sorry, you were in the way.”

I ran my hands over the top of my head and knocked off a few ice cubes as Rachel sprung to her feet. “What in the hell are you doing?” She grabbed a napkin and dabbed my face.

Drunk girl let out a huff. “She was just in the wrong place.”

Lexi gasped. “You aren’t even going to apologize?”

The girl tossed her hair as Rachel tossed her drink in the stranger’s face. “There you go, how does that effing feel?”

Clearly not well as she shoved Rachel who fell back into Kristina.

“Don’t you touch my friend!” I pushed the assaulting mean girl away. I looked back at the same time the unbelievably ballsy gal grabbed my hair and pulled. Before I could blink twice my fist was in her face and she fell to the floor.

I looked up just in time to see one of the two armed security guards grab me. Lexi grasped at the man’s arm. “You don’t touch her!”

“Ma’am, remove your hand from my arm or you can accompany this one out of here.”

Kristina bolted over. “You’re not taking her anywhere!”

With that security officer number two had Lexi’s arm in one hand and Kristina’s in the other. Yeah, I don’t half ass anything. I fuck it all the way up.

YUCK FOU FOTHER MUCKER

Evan’s eyes shot a dagger in my direction. “Did you just make out with Allie?”

I shrugged and took a swig of my beer.

“You have fucking lip gloss on. Come on man, you promised you’d leave this alone and keep me happy.”

“I don’t recall. And you know to never put the key to your happiness in my pocket. I don’t even trust myself most days.”

His head shook. “When you be anything in the world Levi, an asshole seems like and odd choice.”
