Her eyes were question marks. “I can't believe Levi is here.”
“I know.”
“You've been alone with him and that's all you're going to tell me?”
“It's been somewhat awkward, but, uh, we, sorta had some closure.” Not a lie, had lots and lots and lots of closure.
“But when you first saw him?”
“Yeah, I was a little pissy, but it was a long time ago.”
“Pissy? He left you in the hospital with signed annulment papers and you were pissy?”
“Okay, maybe psycho bitch would be more accurate, but we came to a truce I guess.”
“I can still feel it.”
I looked over. “What?”
“The electricity between you guys. It's the same as back then. I don’t like it, Allie. He needs to go.”
“We're grown up now. I think we both now realize that kind of electricity is the equivalent of tossing a toaster into a bathtub.”
Her examining eyes made me twitchy. “I see. So, when you were in this big old house all alone, you guys were, uh, cool.”
Damn she and her questions. “We were good.”
What? It wasn't a lie. We were super-duper good.
Yes, our gang may have been a tad over dressed for Cosco. While my favorite has never been hot dogs, Rachel doesn't lie; good grub for $3.50. I even ran over to the bakery section, grabbed a white cake with flowers on it, and we had ourselves a delightful dessert. I am now a proud card toting member.
TWENTY-EIGHT
LEVI
WIENERLICIOUS
While I'd like to say I revolted against our first stop, Rachel and Lexi scare me a little. Edit— a lot.
They decided the initial destination for Kristina was The Wienerlicious Male Review Club. Was that anywhere on my fucking radar ever? Hell no, but again, scared of the girls and fairly certain they could successfully dispose of my body. The only silver lining to this shit show was the pretty girl with who seemed to take a peek at me from time to time. She was a magnet so where she went, I would follow.
She stood around a tall table next to the stage sipping on something; I was jealous of her straw.
What made her even more irresistible was the fact that she had no idea how beautiful she was. Her auburn hair and out of control curls framed her light skin and made her baby blues almost glow in comparison. Her shirt was nicely filled out, sue me, and those jeans hugged the good stuff to perfection. As if feeling my eyes on her, she glanced my way and a little grin made its way across those pink lips that made me want to throw her over my shoulder like a caveman and take her away from here.
Evan and I took a seat at the bar, and Royce sat a few stools away from us. Ruby red lights shined a devilish glow on the room as drinking and laughing seemed to be on like Donkey Kong.
I’d never been in a male dancer situation before, but the jam-packed Colorado club had a literal pulse of its own with women as far as the eye could see hootin’ and hollerin’ for the gent on the stage thrusting to Million Dollar Baby.
Lexi walked over next to us and ordered a round of shots from the shirtless fella behind the bar. As she waited her glare settled on me.
“You're the designated driver, quit drinking.”
Evan shot her a grin. “Lex, We drove the rental van. I'm driving so a beer or two for Levi is fine.”
She leaned in close. “I mean it, don't you go near Allison. You hear me?”
I sat back and held her eyes for a moment. “I do hear you.”
