“You’re a reckless little bitch and a spoiled little cunt.”

Hurt bloomed on her face, but he was too angry to care. He also knew the one thing that would make her back away from him and Jana. He’d kill Jana’s dream of doing cool sister things with Rebel, but it would save his fucking life. Because if they were alone and he was drunk or high…more anger burned into him.

Once he returned and saw to Jana, he’d get rid of Kaia, but for now he had to make Rebel back off. Hopefully, one day she’d forgive him and understand why he had to do it.

“Torie was always proud of herself when I fucked her,” he said coldly.

It took a moment for Rebel to register the words, but when she did, she recoiled.

“I fucked her several times and enjoyed her pussy. She was an excellent fuck and an even better cocksucker. Since you spy on the club girls, I’m sure you know about sixty-nining? We did that, too.”

He ignored the pain and betrayal on her face, and didn’t try to stop her when she slapped the shit out of his cheek.

“If you ever fucking talk to me again, I’ll kill you,” she spat, turned and ran back to her room, her sobs floating to him.

At the sound of her door slamming, he leaned against the wall and closed his eyes. Footsteps pounding up the stairs reached him and he straightened, forcing a smile on his face when CJ and Uncle Christopher came into view.

“I’m going hang out with Reb,” CJ said with a small smile and a nod to Diesel.

Uncle Christopher pinned Diesel with an inscrutable look until after CJ knocked on Rebel’s door and she let him in.

“Reb back to being pissed at me, huh?”

Wary, Diesel nodded.

“Megan still not talking to me either.” He dug in his pocket for cigarettes and a lighter. “You?”

“Uh, a little,” Diesel said, accepting the cigarette and waiting until Uncle Christopher lit it. “I did most of the talking when I visited her earlier. I think she’s annoyed that I didn’t seem firmly on her side like the rest of the kids were.”

Unease slid through Diesel at the extended silence, but he followed Uncle Christopher’s lead and smoked.

“You think your ma gonna leave me?”

“What? No! Of course not. She loves you.”

“She ain’t never said what she did before. By now, she usually talk to me or text me. Or at one time she did. Ever since…” Shaking his head, he released smoke through his mouth and nose.

He offered Diesel a half-smile. “Be careful on the road, boy.”

“I will, Uncle Chris.”

“Get in, kill those motherfuckers, and get out. By the time you arrive, the remainin’ patients will be moved. Call the meetin’ and gather all the motherfuckers there that night or on call, blow them up, or set them on fire, and get the fuck. We can’t have this shit traced back to us. We got contacts there, but it’ll be a lot stickier and more expensive. Understand?”

Diesel nodded. “It’ll also piss of Johnnie’s faction if they find out.”

“That too.”

Jamming his cigarette in the corner of his mouth, Diesel held out his hand, relieved when Uncle Christopher accepted it. He headed toward the staircase.

“Diesel?”

Diesel halted on the edge of the landing.

“You did good with Reb. I’m proud of you.”

“Thank you, sir,” Diesel said quietly, refusing to show how much those words meant, but standing just a little taller.

Christopher couldn’t say how Diesel actually felt during Rebel’s assault on his decency. He could only applaud Diesel’s behavior. And though Christopher hadn’t liked how Diesel shook the fuck out of Rebel, he understood. He’dwanted to storm upstairs and shake the fuck out of her. Christopher had just finished talking to Derby when CJ walked in. His boy hadn’t gotten two goddamn words out before a notification came through on Christopher’s phone, alerting him to dual activity.Someone near Diesel and Rebel’s rooms. So he’d opened the app and hadn’t believed what the fuck he saw or heard.
