He held her for what felt like hours, and at one point she almost drifted to sleep, only to rouse when she heard the water draining from the tub.She turned and blinked at Balarr, mesmerized by his masculine beauty and those glowing green eyes she couldn’t stop admiring.

“Let’s stand up and take a quick shower to get all the soap suds off.”He gave her a knowing look.“I know you are fatigued—it would appear I wore you out—but I will help you.And I won’t let you fall.”He placed a gentle kiss to her forehead, then helped her rise to her feet.

Covering a yawn, she watched as he faced the shower controls. Her gaze immediately went to his butt. And oh, what a butt. His ass was as firm and muscular as the rest of him. She’d caught glimpses of it earlier, but only from the side. Her heart fluttered in her throat, and heated quakes pulsed in her core, prompting her to press her legs tightly together.

He turned the wide shower head on and glanced over his shoulder with another knowing look.“Did I not leave you satisfied enough after the second session of mating, sweet Luna?”

At first, she didn’t realize he was teasing her—because he sounded serious and almost offended. She flushed and struggled for a response. But when the hint of a smile grazed his lips, she exhaled with relief. His next question, however, caused her to stammer anew.

“Were you looking at my butt?”he asked.“Is that what caused you to become wet and achy between your thighs again so soon after our second round of mating?”Again, he used a serious tone, and somehow the straightforwardness of his question caused fresh quivers of arousal to pummel through her, leaving her breathless and increasingly achy.

She glanced at the communication device on his wrist and decided to change the subject.“You forgot to remove your watch.”

“The water won’t damage it.”He stared at her unblinkingly as the water cascaded behind him. Then he pulled her forward and guided her underneath the water spray.

He ran his hands up and down her body, as though trying to memorize every curve.Eventually, he dragged a soapy cloth over her as well, and her face flamed when he tended to the area between her thighs—though to his credit, his movements were quick and perfunctory.Perhaps he realized that even though she was getting wet and achy again, she was still too exhausted for another session of mating.

After helping her get clean, he grabbed another cloth and added soap, then rubbed it over his own body. Her mouth went dry as she watched. She decided that watching Balarr take a shower was quite possibly the hottest thing she’d ever witnessed.

Especially when his cock was beginning to harden. Not wanting to start anything—she really did need a bit of rest—she quickly averted her eyes.

A few moments later, he guided her back under the cascading water for one last rinse. Then he turned the water off, helped dry her with a large warm towel, and led her back into his bedroom.

“After we get dressed, sweet Luna, I’ll give you a tour of my ship.”

Chapter15

As Balarr guidedLuna to the bridge, his wrist comm beeped and buzzed. He lifted it and displayed the message in 3-D as they continued walking down the corridor. His spirits lifted at the contents of the message—a joint communication from the diplomats he’d contacted.

“I have good news,” he announced as he directed Luna down a new corridor, his hand grazing the small of her back.

She shot him a hopeful look.“What’s that?”

“The diplomats I contacted worked fast. They quickly arranged a secret humanitarian rescue mission, and they are confident all the patients—or rather, prisoners—from Zalora Biotech have been found. They are providing medical care and working to reunite the former prisoners with their families.”

Luna came to a halt, and he turned to face her.A radiant smile lit up her features, and his pulse increased when she reached for his hands and laced her fingers through his.Her reaction pleased him, and he resolved to send gifts to the diplomats to thank them for their quick action.

“That is wonderful news,” Luna finally said in a voice thick with emotion. Her smile wavered a bit and she blinked back tears.

He gathered her closer and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

“Thank you, Balarr. You are an exceptionally kind male,” she said.“You could’ve taken me back to New Vaxx immediately, but instead, you stayed on Earth long enough to make sure the other medical prisoners got help.”

Exceptionally kind? Not for the first time in her presence, the tips of his ears grew warm. But he decided to accept the compliment, just as he’d accepted her praise when, earlier, she’d called himvery sweet.

He cupped her face and peered down at her, overcome by a wave of tenderness for this female who’d just become his mate. She was wearing some of the dark green clothes he’d replicated for her, and he thought the color suited her.

“You’re very welcome, Luna.Though I must point out—all I did was send a few messages.”

She opened her mouth to reply, when a shudder racked the ship.Alarmed, Balarr scooped Luna into his arms and rushed to the bridge. The shudder had felt like the impact of weapons fire, though he found it strange that the auto-navigation features on his ship hadn’t taken appropriate evasive maneuvers.Something was wrong.Coldness suddenly gripped him.

He vowed he would do whatever it took to keep Luna safe.

He’d planned to remain on Earth a while longer so he could hunt the doctors and surgeons from Zalora Biotech down. But if he had to return to New Vaxx to ensure Luna’s safety, he wouldn’t hesitate. He reminded himself that he could always come back and seek his vengeance at another time—while his mate remained in the safety of his home in Starzzia.

The door to the bridge zipped open upon their approach, and he hurried inside and set Luna in the co-pilot’s seat. After a quick glance out the main viewport and spying nothing amiss, he rushed to the main communication console. His fingers flew over the various screens as he worked to determine the cause of the violent shudder that had struck theCormma.

The radar screen was suspiciously blank. On his way to Zalora Biotech, the radar had picked up multiple zones of conflict—areas that should still be lit up.It didn’t make sense.
